I don't get it. The guy has 18 pro fights. A complete novice. Wlad nor anyone else beating him should not be any surprise. He, like Wlad in many ways, is unproven. Joshua is not the worlds hwt champion just a contender in today's world who exhibited enough to beat another nobody to win one of many paper titles. As meaningless as it comes.
I never said anything about the duration by which he'd finish him... But regardless of how Joshua looked against Brezeale or anyone else, I'd still favor him to be a guy who was 8 inches shorter and some 60 lbs lighter. Especially given that said fighter had the tendency to get decked or fall behind in the early go. By the way, for all his limitations Dominic Brezeale was 6'7", 255 lbs, undefeated and a big puncher. Its not unreasonable that Joshua wasn't able to dispatch him within seconds.. Would Rocky?
Wlad is an olympic gold medalist, 20 year professional with nearly 70 pro fights, and reigned the division for a decade. Tell me again how he's unproven?
The true lineal champion retired after beating Klitscko nearly two years ago. So who would you say has claim to lineage?
If you were to judge Wlad on the Fury fight you could say the same about him except replace "punching bag" with "light-sparring partner" - My point is Breazeale, while not the finest technical boxer around, is usually a game fighter. Give credit to Joshua as to why Breazeale was a mere "punching bag" and wasn't more aggressive. It happens in most sports, Messi in football compared to Maradona as a teenager, L. James touted as the second coming of Christ/Jordan in basketball before turning pro….etc etc. Some boxing fans need more convincing than others, whether that is because of all the hype jobs who have ultimately disappointed or because they demand more evidence before they can form opinions with any confidence. I have already seen enough from Joshua that I would stake every spare penny I could lay my hands on against Marciano at even money. I accept there are still questions over his stamina and chin as well as other unknowns at this point and can understand the viewpoint of favouring the more proven commodity in Rocky even if I strongly disagree. (18 fight) Joshua TKO
Its not really known how good Aj is so Marciano would be the good bet since he is a real atg level boxer, Aj might be closer to average. Not long ago many were thinking Price was going to be a really good heavyweight also. The main advantage Joshua would have is reach and everyone Marciano fought had a longer reach then him. So against Marciano a longer reach might not be much of an advantage.
It's funny that people are saying Marciano is too small because last time I checked Joshua got knocked out in sparring by a 200 lb amateur Lawrence Okolie. I'm 100% positive Marciano hits harder and is a better fighter than Okolie.
Perry thinks modern / active fighters aren't very good. Wlad was 106-6 as an amateur, winning the super heavyweight medal at age 20, and like you said has a near record amount of KO's, title fights, and longevity when compared to previous champions in the division.
This is probably correct. Marcian was a beast and I think we will all see Joshua fall from a right hand this Saturday. Very early or very late. The punch Marcian caught Walcott with would put anybody to sleep including Joshua. Obviously there is a huge size differential but if he can land it's over. The only real question is was Marciano ever hit as hard as Joshua punches? And the thing is Joshua has pretty much fought nobodies so we don't know how hard he punches. However anytime Marciano did he the canvas he always got up. Joe Louis was able to take punches from guys 6-3 to 6-6 and 250+ so Id venture to say Marciano could too. If I had to bet id go with the Rock.
Okolie has neither confirmed or denied this. Sparring is sparring, Marciano was dropped heavily by 5'11" 190lbs Toxie Hall whilst training for Cockell . In fights by 40 years old 188lbs Moore, and 37 years old 186lbs Walcott. I think there is a chance that Joshua hits harder than that trio.
