He's better than Merchant was. I kind of like him because he obviously knows boxing and isn't an idiot. Would I rather hear from Roy Jones Jr or Steve Kim? Yes. But there are very few commentators better than Max, and if you watch his competition on other channels, he's levels above most of them. You wouldn't think it would be that hard a job and if almost anyone can do it why is the bar so low? Lampley sucks too but you look at their competition and they are even worse! They obviously have some skills and are doing something right. With Lampley I think he's got good rhythm and voice like a radio guy. I don't know why they keep Lederman. He can't score, has an annoying voice, and never says anything interesting.

 

Agree with all points. And more so regarding Lederman lol. I don't dislike him, I just thought it is redundant.
His position is easily covered by the other 3 knowledgable persons on the panel.
Maybe occasional times where he can provide an authority voice for specific incidents regarding the fight such as headbutts, fault, disqualification and rules. Besides that I don't care too much about the way he scores, which in my opinion just as good/ bad as any other person.

Max is pretty tough to listen to sometimes. He says "special" waaaayyyy too much and his praise becomes too flowery. Larry Merchant, he ain't. That said, Max appears to be knowledgeable and personable. Hopefully as he ages, he'll become a bit salty and maybe it will get better.

I dont know about anyone else but I liked Foreman as a commentator..
