No he wasn't getting pounded in the corner. Joshua didn't land anything at the end. Dumb ref got scared and ended it. He's supposed to be a professional. I can tell without a replay that nothing is landing and I'm not right next to them. He's a pro, he should know better. The replay confirmed it.
It's been a while since I last yelled at my TV like this. Wlad should've taken AJ out when he could, he was unable to hold himself upright. That aside, I'm glad that this was an actual fight, with both men giving their all, rear sighting these days.
Damn good showing by Wlad, he definitely did better than I and many others thought he would, but at the end of the day the youth gap was too much, and even in his prime Wlad had trouble with tall power punchers. Joshua right now the #1 HW, at least until Fury comes back.
First 3 rounds were very slow, but the 4th round picked up some, after that it ended up a classic. You rarely get Klitschko classics, because of boring wins, holding etc. But this one will qualify as a classic.
It is clear from that fight that age had a lot to do with it. It was an even fight up until the knockout. Compare that to the Fury fight and it isn't a good look for Joshua
Nothing was landing but he had been knocked down twice and wasn't throwing anything back plus Joshua looked like he had caught his second wind. Im not a big follower of the hw division but for this fight I was really rooting for Wlad but the ref did the right thing.
