Hear is the scoop, IMO I think AJ wants to face the best in the World to prove he is the best. Whereas I think Wilder is not as confident in his ability deep down to face and beat the best.

Thus I can't help poke fun at Wilder especially because he talks so big out of the ring. That don't mean I don't really like watching him in the ring.
