Should Wlad have an easy farewell fight in Germany?

Before the fight, I was hoping if he lost he'd have an easy fight in Germany to go out with a win on. Maybe against Huck.

But now, I actually think this is the rare loss that helps his legacy, and it really seems like the perfect way to go out. Plus, it seems like if he had another fight, it should be a rematch with AJ since it was so close, but I think that would be an utterly terrible idea. What do you think?

He was seconds away from winning the fight tonight, a rematch should definitely be on the cards. Wlad has enough left to beat Joshua and possibly Fury if he makes the right adjustments. It's just a question of how much he wants it.

He was razor close tonight and on another night could have won. Being the 3rd best HW in the world aint bad at all at 41.

It's possible that Wlad can pick up a title if he keeps on fighting. I think rematching Joshua is the wrong way to go about it. Joshua, this early in his career, probably has a greater amount of things he's able to fix and improve on going into a rematch. I could see Wlad beating Parker or Wilder though.

However if he were to retire off this fight I'd be happy with that. You're right in saying it's a good career ender. He went out on his shield and nearly decapitated Joshua in the process.

Let him fight Dino and Herol on the same night.

He should retire. Nothing left to prove. He can't throw the right hand anymore and he still was one punch away from knocking out the perceived next dominant hw champ at age 41.
    Know when to exit.

He threw that right hand in the 6th. Do you remember what happened after that?

From his perspective he felt he could have done more after that knockdown.

However I do agree with you- he is 41, and he has nothing left to prove. Time to get out.

Oh I remember but he couldn't follow it up when AJ was one punch away from being stopped and he threw so few of them overall. And it's now the 3rd fight in a row where he just can't let his right hand go. He's 41 he's not going to reverse his reflexes. He went out giving a great fight that many ppl didn't believe he had left. Time to leave. Thanks for the memories. Class in and out of the ring. And dominant

Yeah. That's what I think will probably happen... Takam would be ideal.

He is apparently still uncertain about the rematch he is due, but I think he should retire

But I think he will take on Joshua again and use his rematch contract

I'm not sure how much of a draw that fact would be, but I guess we will see

I really hope he just retires.

I really, really don't want to see a rematch with Joshua.

    I worry about his health.

He was one punch away from knocking out the next dominant champ? I don't recall Wlad fighting Wilder. Wilder is a bum fight? A bum who never lost. Then you will knock his opposition right? Because clearly Wlad fought better doing his 11 years of fighting nobodies. Joe Louis fought better when he was facing 180 pound guys who were 3 and 3 in title fights?

Wilder is wild and has no skill. Guess what? Neither does AJ. At least Widler moves his head. Wilder throws while windmill punches only when he has a guy hurt. AJ is wild all the time.

Wilder has never been hit hard as a pro. So the glass chin thing is pretty silly. But his chin can't be any worse than Wlad or AJ. In any case Wilder would of put Wlad to bed the moment he landed his best punch. Could Wlad stop Wilder? Sure if he is a agressive.

Wilder is a nobody and neither is AJ. Neither one are elite fighters and neither of them will ever be eilte. The heavyweight division is still garbage and AJ taking 11 rounds to knock out a punch shot scared washed up Wlad when Corrie Sanders blew away a 25 year old Wlad in 4 minutes prove this.

The heavyweight division doesn't suck anymore after all these years, finally. Wlad wishes he was 5 years younger. Even at 41, he's still a top heavyweight. I wouldn't be surprised if he beat Fury in a rematch. Idk about Joshua, tho. Joshua is too fast for him and tho both may have stamina issues, Joshua is in his prime and going to get better, not Wlad.

He should sail off into the sunset. He's had an amazing career and achieved so much. I'm not a fan of the jab 'n' grab Wlad but the younger one is still to this day one of the most destructive offensive forces I've ever seen in the HW division and I loved that version of him. People forget just how much of an offensive juggernaut beast he was back then. Go watch a few of his old fights and reacquaint yourselves.

I enjoyed watching the later version sometimes too and his footwork and defence are still really impressive for a man of his gargantuan dimensions. He's still very formidable but he's lost a lot from an offensive perspective, and whilst this version of him is still very capable, what happens if they do fight a rematch and he actually managed to pull it off? He might get roped into doing a trilogy and that's not what he needs at his age and this stage of his career. We don't even know what this fight has taken out of him and AJ is much fresher and he has so many less miles on the clock so even a rematch would be a bad idea IMO.

He came within a whisker of beating the heir apparent and arguably the biggest and baddest offensive juggernaut in the division. AJ's a beast. And he did so in their backyard, in front of an extremely partisan 90,000 strong AJ home crowd when he was 41 years of age and had been out of action for 17 months. He should be very proud of his performance and call it a career. It might not be a win but that still a hell of a way to go out.

Wladimir most definitely deserves to have "a farewell fight" in Germany next... and said fight should be against any opponent he chooses, barring one of the titleholders.

Though if he decides to retire from the sport following THIS fight, it would be equally understandable. He gave it his best shot and prepared like a man possessed.

Looking at it solely from "the objective Klitschko fan" perspective for a moment, I honestly would not prefer to see him in a rematch with AJ... as I suspect that AJ would be better next time.

I don't think he'll want to go out against a lower level opponent. I think he'll want the glory of winning another title and adding to his legacy. He'll be thinking to himself that he came so close to beating AJ and that he will be able to do so in a rematch if he makes a few adjustments. Thing is it's not far-fetched at all given how close he came so he won't have any problem convincing himself he can pull it off. I think it would be ill-advised though.

Easy farewell fight?? Pfft! He doesn't need any cherry picks.

Let Wilder see if he could eat that 6th round 1-2! Since it looks like Fury v.s Joshua is the next big money fight.
