When was the last time you saw someone recover like AJ did?

(Please keep this free from PED-discussion, everyone takes them, I'm just asking from a history point of view).

Honestly it looked like Joshua was drunk on his legs at the end of the 5th and then after the KD. He kind of did the same against Whyte after that left hook but this was far more dramatic.

What other fights have featured such a dramatic recovery and second wind? AJ was fresh as a daisy from the 10th round until the end.

When you get knocked down like that it takes time to recover and Joshua did well with good defense for the most part avoiding big shots after the knockdown. Respect.

Joshua was younger and therefore recovered much better than older Wlad. Wlad seemed quite spent after round 9.

Remarkable turnaround - not sure how he managed to weather the storm, regain his composure of finish the job but he did. His conditioning certainly isn't bad neither is his heart or will win.

There are always instances of revovery like this just not often in the UK due to refs jumping in as soon as somebody lands a flurry.

Whats the most impressive thing is AJ was an 18 fight novice against a HOF legend.

No credit for Wladimir's incredible recovery after the first KD of the fight? Wlad recovered extremely well in that 5th Round, despite being quite fortunate that AJ totally gassed out and failed to finish him there.

One legendary recovery was Buster Douglas going down in the 9th vs. Mike Tyson, then knocking out Mike in the 10th.

I saw it differently I think Wlad was still fresh but probably thought he was up on the cards and thought it was safer to just try and win it on points. Big mistake, should have pressed it and gone for the kill.

I think the better question is, when was the last time a heavyweight title fight included knockdowns from both fighters? And arguably from the top 2 fighters in the division.
And not even in the heavyweight division. This was some pure Rocky-esque shiz!

Can't believe AJ got back up. And does he really hit as hard as people think? Wlad never lost his legs and even after that uppercut from hell, Wlad still kept coming up. He was never out of it when the fight was stopped.

    Agreed.

If you watch how AJ hurt him both times inside in the 11th it was down to AJ coming in low with his head, creating space between him and Wlad to get shots off in close. Usually when this happens Wlad leans on his opponents, placing the forearm on his neck and pushing down, preventing any attack in close, but he didn't have the energy to do it in the 11th.

The first time it happens he even places his forearm in the correct position to push AJ down, but he just had no strength or was too slow to put the pressure down in time, because AJ popped up from his crouch and ripped in shots.

The second time is when that uppercut landed and he was just too tired and hurt by then to do what he normally does and shut his opponent down on the inside.

Yeah i think Wlad banked on AJ fading even more and breaking him down. Wlad should have finished it imo but AJs second wind was amazing.
