Joshua hits plenty fast enough and throws enough combinations to catch and hurt Tyson and would come in with the mentality to wipe him out. Joshua is no Bruno and look what Frank did early on in their bout.

AJ showed us a few things he hadn’t needed to before, against an aged but resurgent former champion (he showed a few weaknesses too but nothing that can’t be fixed). Wlad was a still a Live opponent, who wanted those belts.

Joshua weathered a close call in the 6th but regained control by the 9th and 10th, on his way towards an emphatic victory. I don’t think we could have asked for more than that, from a now 19-0 apprentice Unified Champ.

So, we know a bit more about AJ but, I won’t be making any serious comparisons with the greats of the past, just yet. It was one more fight on top of his 18 priors. I’m looking forward to seeing him improve and being in other exciting bouts in future.

    I agree with this.

Still don't have him in my Top-10, though.

He's had only 19 fights people...let's wait a while before we put him in the H.O.F...he only needs 30 more fights to get to 49-0...

I can see why mcvey. A forty odd year old ex champion that s been out of the ring almost 2 years, coming back and almost defeating a younger undefeated puncher. Some times a defeat in a ATG shows us more about them than a bunch of wins!

Bruno momentarily staggered Tyson then was rolled over in that fight and the return,Tyson weathered Ruddock's power and he could weather Joshua's. Tyson would be all over him before he could collect himself.imo

This could be your best post. I suspect if he was 3-4 years younger in his upper 30's, he wins. His timing was off in many areas, and he isn't as fast as he used to be.

Joshua proved a lot, but I think his stamina was a little shaky. Still, he good enough to be the #1 guy for a few years.

The fight raised the stock of both boxers, and the sport in general.

Bravo, and Wlad please retire now.

Joshua showed that he's the real deal last night and Klitschko went out on his shield. Anthony still needs to improve but he'll be all the better for this experience.

Still a tad too early to compare Anthony to the all time greats.

Thing is , I don't believe he will retire. If Joshua had come along and smashed him down in a few rounds and it had been all one sided then yes, I think he would have. But putting up such a fight and coming close last night, I think he'll be confident that he can better next time. So for better or worse I don't think we've seen the last of him.

surely there are huge question marks over his chin and stamina? I haven't done a punch count, but there weren't a huge number of punches thrown from either fighter yet AJ was still gasping for breath and needed a few rounds rest before unleashing at the end.

for me, he is still a Bruno clone who is fortunate to be around in a weak era. I now have doubts about him beating a fit Fury (although that fight is looking unlikely)

I may sound harsh, and possibly I've over criticised AJ , partly due to stupidly favourable comparisons to proven all time greats on this forum but I remain unconvinced about durability and longevity.
