It was good to see Klitchko on his toes in this fight but i doubt that after 2 years out he was in better shape than for the Fury fight. In terms of physical attributes maybe slightly better prepared, but Wladimir's boxing ability has been on the decline ever since he Ko-ed Pulev. No versatility, predictable. And he would always have trouble against taller or similar guys. Tyson Fury planted the seed of doubt in the build-up and let it grow in the ring. I am a fan of Tyson but to be honest his ability is questionable. Apart from WK who has he fought? Chisora (oh please). Fury would still beat Wlad the same way - by stealing rounds! AJ should not be too pleased with his victory too, because he was exposed by ageing and already knocked down opponent in the 6th and all the heavyweight contenders out there would have seen it and taken note.
Yes because he was a totally different fighter last night ,what's difficult to understand? He had an off night against someone he didn't take seriously end of
prime Wlad was gone by the second Tony Thompson fight, that doesn't mean he didn't gain something later on. But the speed/reaction time was gone. Mentality wise the Wlad of last night was actually pretty good, his body just couldn't do it, hence the missed left hooks. compare those left hooks to the ones he knocked out ray austin with. And his legs can't cover distance while punching anymore. He's a phenomenon at age 41, but still a shadow of his former self.
He sure is old. Joshua is better than I thought though. A bit better. I picked Wlad to win within 6 or 7 rounds. That almost happened but almost isn't good enough. Credit to AJ.
He definitely was the best we have seen for a while and he wasn't scared to take a hit the get on in but Tyson is a different beast. Wlad couldn't hit Fury and it wouldn't have been any different last night..
No I dont think so. Styles make fights which is why I was able to call the Fury/Klitschko and Joshua/Klitschko fights. Furys movement and size was a problem for Wlad.
Jeez, and why do you think he was such a different fighter last night? The answer is: The opponent. It's the same guy, but in a different mindset due to the stylistic match up. If you put last nights version of Wlad in the ring with Tyson, he'd just immediately revert to the one we saw in Dusseldorf. Tyson can get into his head, and he can make his offence redundant by feinting and making him hesitant. It's just ignorant to assume that last nights version of Wlad would have beaten Tyson.
Hi mate, I'm just coming back from a ban for writing some naughty words. Ha! Can you bump the Calzaghe thread that we were debating on? I know you replied to me just before the ban. I've looked on my notifications and they're no longer there. I can't find them on the forum either.
Wlad's reflexes are gone Firy's movement would of still bothered him. 5 years ago he beats both Fury and Joshua. Pretty plain to see that. However both Fury and Joshua can still improve. (Not sure about Fury at this point he needs to get his life together) Great fight last night.
This Wlad would have flattended Fury in the rematch as I think Fury would have went into the rematch less motivated However the first go round I'm not so sure. Fury beat Wlad out the ring mentally and then finished the job in Germany.
I don't know what most on here are thinking, most are claiming he definitely does "better" but still convincingly losses. And there's no difference between this wlad and the fury wlad. WTF. The fury wlad had a wife going in and out of mental ward's while his marriage was on the rocks. He wasn't just mentally broken he was totally drained mentally during the entire fury craziness. Your mentality is just as and even more important than any other single aspect of the fight game. Some of you guys are so lost idkw I'm wasting time. Fact: if wlad would do better per the board, then of course he could easily win. Fury BARELY beat wlad, it was literally a single shot a Round that separated them. Get a clue esb24
It's hard to say. Personally I think Wlad's loss to Fury was because of Fury's movement. An older guy doesn't want to go chasing fighters at the end of the day.
