I'm not comparing their boxing ability. The storyline is the same: Young Stud vs Old Champ attempting a comeback. Of course Marciano went on to become champ, and Joshua holds one of the belts (I think) but if Joshua goes on to get more belts (holding all the belts now is nearly impossible) surely this fight would be considered a big turning point in his career.
No because Marciano was never a young stud. He was a hype job controlled by the mob and never fought anybody who wasn't old, a bum, or controlled by the mob. Joe Louis isn't a heavyweight but modern standards but he is similar to Wlad. They both for bums for years to keep the title longer than they should.
It's probably more comparable to holyfield V foreman and Holmes , where the two old guy s give the much younger, undefeated champ a much harder fight than thought.
No...louis came out of retirement to fight Marciano.Wlad is in great shape and arguably had his best performance even with the loss.Louis was obviously past his best. Wlad is a top 3 fighter now and has been active.More like Ali vs Holmes even though Ali was WAYYYY past his best.
You got Marciano and Charles mixed up. Louis came out of retirement to fight Charles in '50 then fought 8 fights and then Marciano.
