I picked Joshua, because I think Joshua would outbox him and with wounding punches, and just wear him down and stop him in the first half of the fight. But Wilder does have two things going for him that might make a difference Klitschko did not have. Wilder's stamina really is amazing, if he can weather the storm and wait for Joshua to unload on him with his heavy combinations, and avoid getting stopped, he will catch Joshua at a point were he tires. Wilder is a good finisher, and if Joshua does tire Wilder will swarm him and force the stoppage, and it has happened in Wilder fights plenty of times. I think if Wladimir swarmed Joshua at the end of the 5th the fight would be stopped, but he tactically decided years ago he needs to conserve energy. Wilder does have a shot, but not a very good one. He is levels bellow Joshua in skill, defence, anticipation, footwork, and I am pretty confident Wilder would not take those punches Wladimir was landing on Joshua.
As long as Joshua can make sure he doesnt take one of Wilders wild bombs he should be able to get the better of Wilder in all depts. Although people talking how he has a great chin, i saw him take near enough 3 full rounds to recover from his knockdown and Wlad really didnt fully commit to going for the kill when it was near enough on a slab for him. A young healthy Wilder finds himself in that position he will definatly go for the kill.
Wow! Im impressed by this thread. So many well informed and unbiased opinions on this matchup outside of the two idiots Beyonce and Chop who added nothing to the conversation but mindless bafoonery. I voted Joshua and the fight might not be even close and ill tell you why. To be great or become great your competition has to push you to do so. Joshua found that with Wlad and he stepped up impressively. Wilder simply hasnt fought and hasnt reach that high level yet and he may not. If they fought in july i say Joshua makes easy work of wilder. If wilder can go through some tougher guys that can force him to elevate his level than he has a better chance.
Here's a question: Would Joshua: * Lose the first four rounds hands-down to Gerald Washington * Take 8 rounds to put away the blubber version of Arreola * Be made to look silly by Szpilka for most of the fight * Go the distance with fat boy Stiverne * Get taken to the 11th by Duhaupas I think the answer is fairly clear: no. Neither would Wilder beat Joshua. DW has a puncher's chance, and even that's slim.
If Joshua gasses out after 5 rounds than Wilder would seriously destroy him on the ropes with his "windmill style". Wilder has very good stamina unlike Joshua. And those are facts
To be honest right now until we actually see what Deontay is capable of with a top ranked fighter, we are unwilling to give him a fair shout. But he looked terrible against Washington, so what makes anyone take him credible of beating Joshua, who's competition has being has being better than wilder. Wilder at the amount of fights should be fighting higher level of opposition. Until he does so, he will receive mockery because he currently is making a mockery of himself fighting bum after bum, with below average performances.
I voted AJ but with power that Wilder has you always have to give him a chance. ...I'd nervously expect Joshua to KO him but 1 slip of concentration or tire like he did for 3 rounds with Wlad could see him eat a windmill combo and it be over. More likely though is AJ being technically on another level makes easy work of Wilder. i dont think Wilder could take much from AJ without taking a nap center of the ring. Watch them chicken legs run!
Would rather ask the question who would win between Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder. That would be a question to really see where Deontay is in his career.
Deontay's defensive skills are questionable, given that he gave up some rounds against Szpilka, got outjabbed by Washington, got hit a lot by Duhaupas and hurt at one point of the Molina fight. Joshua will find his range in the early rounds and he won't give up his chance once he hurts Wilder, which will happen without doubt. I can't see it go past 5 rounds.
For the Wilder fans say Vlad was shot, do you accept that Wilder if offered the Vlad fight before AJ would of refused? Not a chance Wilder would of taken that fight. AJ stops Wilder inside 5 rounds. Far worse fighters than AJ have won plenty of rounds vs Wilder.
wilder got a punchers chance and nobody can disagree with that fact but them windmills are open to a straight down the middle. wilder has been put on wobbly legs from a hook but showed great recovery and covered up and went on to win AJ has shown he can take a devistating shot to the chin and get up but his recovery was slow. Still put AJ for the win
I picked Aj but always had known DW could khtfo just like he could anyone else. Id only be surprised if DW out boxer him enroute to stopping Aj. Aj would be favored to beat him and I'd expect him to 6/7 out of 10x. Imo DW should challenge Parker first. Aj v DW have been on a collision course since day 1. 2018 should be the start of the Aj DW battles, this is not a 1 and done no matter how the first fight ends. Once W lad reviews the fight tape i believe he's going to forget about rematching unless he continued his boxing career. The $$$ is obviously there but it can't be about the $$$^vs the vs the
