Remember It's a 41 year old Wlad. Godfrey was highly thought of. Larry Gains rated him comparable to Jack Dempsey and he shared a ring with both of them. Larry was Dempseys sparring partner for the Tunney fight and Jack never pulled punches. Who are we to argue with Larry?
Who was as good as 41 year old Ali? Just about any contender. That's the yardstick here, the 41 year version of Klitschko. Godfrey only has be comparable to a past it version of Wlad. Comparable.
Not as much as you. How come hes never ever brought up if he was so good???? Every other fighter that was ever any good has far more attention than Godfrey. I think he might be being overated
How good are the guys Joshua has been fighting? That Charles Martin? Eric Molina? Garry Cornish? He's added one good fight against a declining Wlad that he was but an eyelash from losing to a list of guys Carnera could already beat. Let's not be so hard on Carnera here. It works both ways.
Could be. How do we prove it? Your quick to say I am grasping yet at the same time admitting you are unfamiliar with Godfrey so how do you know I am grasping for anything?
That's why hes not talked about...Nobody knows enough about him..Loads of fighters like that over the years. I have a feeling if he was good he'd be better known. Could be wrong though choklab, its only my opinion bomber. What have you got to go on ?
Wasn't he that dirty guy who got DQ'd a bunch of times - in addition to being thrown out of the ring on 4 different occasions for not trying hard enough?
I don't think that reply was meant for me. I asked for any footage showing he's anywhere close to the level of Wlad.
What's embarrassing here is nobody would pick Marciano to lose to Primo Carnera yet 99% of the guys Joshua beat would lose to Primo Carnera who had a 100% record against SHW contenders that were rated by ring magazine. So Joshua has a long way to go yet. Another thing that is embarrassing is that Joshua is a very nice kid, hopefully on his way to greatness, and you are all heaping "jump the gun" praise on him before we see his career pan out and reach its natural conclusion.
