Kovalev is 175. Whatever he rehydrates to is water weight. Marciano at 185 more muscle and functional weight than Kovalev rehydrating to 185 or even 190.

Robinson at 160 is what I'm talking about. Mayweather and Pacquiao are barely welterweights.

Fulton was good enough to maximise his physical advantages against Sam.

Could you please point out the bad technique that Willard has?

You said people as good as Robinson. Who else would qualify?

Robinson wouldn't beat Kovalev. Much the same way I wouldn't favour Pep over Golovkin. I wouldn't favour Jofre over Keith Thurman and so on and so forth

The fact is Kovalev has fought absolutely nobody as good as prime Robinson at 160. This is 15 lbs we're talking about. You're trying to make it out as if he's some giant cruiserweight. He's a 175 lbr and a skinny one at that with terrible finishing skills.

It was really a question that everybody knew the answer to. This side convo went on longer than it needed to. Let's get back to the thread!

I didn't say he's a giant cruiserweight, I said no one would expect Robinson to win.

The more weight someone gives up the harder it will be for them to emerge victorious.

Rocky wouldn't be a HW fighter tidsy, not at the weight he fought at in real life anyways.

He'd be fighting LHW or CW opposition, that's the class I will happily compare him at.

But giving up 60 pounds and facing Joshua? Foolish.

More than that, theres simply no way Marciano lasts more than 3 rnds with that Wlad. Ive studied Wlad about 20 years now,he was at his BEST ,he had a perfect combo of offense and defense at 41 hes still elite..age isnt the end to all ends if you have longetivity style and train year round plus advances in nutritional programs /trainers/advissors/personal trainers..in strength training..etc..etc...its a team effort and alot of thinking goes into it . at the end its still a 6'6 giant vs a slow 5'11 guy with no jab to even get close to him.

I'll take any Klitchko ,any year over Marciano complete mismatch. One has to understand a 5'11 guy not fast at all has to actually reach this guy who was VERY fast and hit 3x as hard as he did. marciano walks right to him and boom..Wlad excells with guys who come to him and rocky wasnt exactly Mr.slick boxer, set up punching type he was a grinder .

First of all nobody here can tell my why Marciano beats Carnera, it's just a given that he does.

Second. Nobody can name more than one opponent that Joshua has beaten that Primo can't beat.

Third. The one opponent Joshua has beat that most people would not expect Carnera to beat was 41 years old, had not fought in nearly two years ....and he still almost knocked Joshua out.

im not heaping praise choklab, I think Wlad would've knocked him out in his younger days. Anyone talking atg with regards to AJ is really naïve. Your right, hes way off being rated like that

Ray Robinson was far from unbeatable at 160lb as history shows. Welter hes perfect. Middle beatable, and light heavy anyone very good stops him, and kovs very good. 160 wasn't Rays natural weight. He would've been the best light middle ever aswell as the best welter..but obviously it didn't exist back then

Why do you think Marciano beats Carnera?

Which of Joshua's opponents do you think Carnera can beat?

Almost knocking someone out is a million miles away from actually knocking someone out.

Everyone thinks Marciano beats Carnera. It's not just me. It's you as well. Yet Carnera represents everything Joshua is, a 250lb champion who knocked people out. I think it's a contradiction among fans. They love SHW champions but not ones on black and white film.

Until he met Wlad, I think Carnera beats every last opponent that Joshua has ever beat. Eric Molina, Garry Cornish, Raphael zumbano Love, the mighty Charlie Martin and all.

Almost knocking someone out is a million miles away from knocking someone out, I quite agree. Nobody thought Primo would knockout Jack Sharkey when he was the worlds best heavyweight but he did.

It was almost like that for Joshua, he was an 18 fight novice, had never gone past 7 rounds, most posters on here didn't think he could beat a 41 year old inactive former champion, but he did.

He was good enough at Middleweight to beat someone with Kovalev's skill.

What do you find wrong or lacking with respect to Kovalev's skills?
