Joseph Parker's promoters set for Fury furore

Joseph Parker's promoters are eyeing big opportunities in the UK, and Hughie Fury, who is still claiming to be the mandatory challenger to the WBO world heavyweight title, isn't one of them.

Duco Events feel they and Parker owe Fury nothing to the Englishman after he claimed less than a fortnight before his scheduled fight against Parker that he was unable to travel to New Zealand due to a back injury.

They are likely to take legal advice this week with regards to Fury's claim to be mandatory challenger, and, should Parker be forced by the WBO to fight the 22-year-old, a cousin of Tyson Fury, then Duco will probably do all they can to hold it anywhere but in England.

Duco, who won the purse bid, retain the rights to hold the fight wherever they want, and probably feel that Parker has moved on from the likes of Fury now. Trainer Kevin Barry, normally a conservative figure as far as opponents are concerned, believes Fury would hardly land a glove on his 25-year-old fighter.

Fury aside, England has been calling Parker for a while now.

There will be no shortage of challengers for Parker's title in what now must be considered the current home of heavyweight boxing.

No outrage because everyone expected it to happen, unfortunately.

The furys have become the most unreliable outfit in heavyweight boxing.

Pending drug cases, bailing out of fights etc

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole until they actually start boxing again.

Fury didnt deserve a shot in the first place imo. His latest cynical escapade should disqualify him from contention, the guy doesn't even have a current BBBOC licence!

I don't think many Brits disagree with that.
Hard to overlook everything that has happened the last couple of years, with the Fury's getting a very bad reputation.

Hughie shouldn't be fighting Parker anyway.
Hughie should be fighting a level below that for a while.
Hughie v Bellew or Price would make more sense.

    Bellew wouldn't fight Hughie.

    Hughie wouldn't fight Price.

Price as a benchmark is much lower than both Bellew and Hughie Fury.

Parker imo still has plenty to prove. He's not up there quite yet. I watched that fight with Ruiz Jn and I wasn't convinced.

Hughie Fury will be a right handful in a 2-3 years if his team/family stop p**sing people about.

Peter said hughie described his injury as like "having tooth ache but in your back".

    Proper fighting men.

Can you imagine jack dempsey using that one?

Given the totality of their collective antics over the last two years, the Furys have pissed away almost all of the leverage that they would have had in dealing with the handlers of any top-tier potential opponents. In these scenarios, the Furys won't be believed, even in the instances where they are telling the truth regarding any particular matter. Those with whom they are attempting to negotiate at the top-tier level will hold all or most of the cards and the Furys will either have to dance to their tune or walk way. Recent history indicates that the Furys will just walk away one way or another.

This is far fetched I admit...but should Bellew not rematch Haye and nobody trusting the Fury's...could we see Tyson going back on what he's said and fighting Haye?

Doesn't seem overly far-fetched to me. I don't think that David has tons of leverage at the moment either.

To be fair to Parker, Fury hasn't fought anyone has good as Ruiz Jn or Takam.

Pooey Fury has done ZILCH to earn even a commonwealth title shot. He will be road kill for AJ

They should set up a match where AJ tortures phooey Fury as a appetiser for the fight of the century!! It would be great spice to the matchup 150,000 would attend AJ v TYSON FURY
