There is a sentiment among some that Marciano should be automatically written off as a result of his size and I'm addressing that by reminding those people that his career wasn't a fluke. He was a great fighter and when placed with (at this point) a good fighter he should stand a reasonable chance. Lets exclude the Tyson/Bruno and Frazier/Mathis examples. I did them off the top of my head. The point still remains that this fight isn't an open shut case and there are parallels to consider.
For starters, you. Like brown said, you cannot be champion without skills. Being slow, and crude. You just can't. Conveniently, he is none of those things. Perhaps in Bert Sugar world, when information was worse, where you compare every great against the one that came 10-20 years before, to paint a simple picture for those without resources.
No I imagine him being 5'10" And I know how he stacked up against a man 6'3" See below, then mentally add another 3 inches and 35lbs of muscle . This content is protected

I repeat no one has suggested Marciano's reign was a fluke and as for myself I haven't even made a pick. I made this thread and explained why .I also predicted ,accurately, that I would be accused of Marciano bashing which was as predictable as the sun coming up tomorrow morning.

The secret to Wlads fighting is controlling the pace. He looks great if it's the pace he sets. He can look lively so long as he's in control. He can look great because it's on his terms. Years ago Wlad lost control of the pace in fights with Brewster and Sanders but ever since he has been a master of pace control. Joshua being a kid that is used to blow outs, one way traffic etc and never having had to pace himself before was never going to be the kind opponent that would have a long game in mind. Therefore Wlad prepared for that output and used his jab, centre of ring control to restrict Joshua. He was in control for much of the fight so therefore looked great. Another opponent, a more seasoned one with a completely different style, say a spoiler like Fury with a good work rate and less predictable output would drain Wlad just like those other times. He becomes old over night. As old as he looked as a young man losing to Brewster.
wouldn't fighters like marciano be a bit taller if they were born in present times anyway? due to better nutrition/hormones in food? He was 5'10 and born about a century ago, so nowadays (considering it relative to the change in average heights) he might be around 6'2-6'3.
