Damn right. Tyson Fury, Hughie Fury, Carlos Ortiz, Povetkin, Pulev and Marcus Browne have all failed tests.

What would these guys be like in the classic era?

They wouldn't be as good. But we are in the current era, the PED era, and todays heavyweights would mop the floor with their counterparts from the past. Fair? No. But it is what it is, if not for PEDs, better nutrition, better training, etc, etc maybe Marciano would have a shot versus a modern champion like Joshua. But all those advantages apply so…..

I don't. I keep mentioning that it's a problem with Boxiana. I say Bert Sugar for dramatic effect as a shortcut to get at the essence of my point.

No. That's what you do. No matter what you see, if it's in black and white you think it's bad.

Only difference is I have common sense on my side.
    And you are a bozo.

Last year you were just as sure that old timers don't throw 1-2s and combos. Why should we trust your analysis now?

You don't even concede when you're wrong. Ever. Everyone else does. And you've been more wrong than anyone. You are completely biased.

We are in the current era but the classic boxers are still way back in the classic era. Theoretically there is no more reason why a modern fighter must meet a classic fighter in the modern era in a fantasy match than the modern fighter meet the classic fighter under his circumstances.

And that's not to say the all modern fighters are even better the way they are either. There is no substitute for the old school seasoning. It is my belief The advances of the PED era just means more average ones meet their full physical potential than before and can masquerade in a higher level. Where as The best fighters of the modern era are potentially equal to anything from the past anyway with or without these advances.

Your attacks on "Boxiana" are hilarious. You embarrass yourself every week with your hilarious revionistic attempts to transform even the crudest and wildest sluggers of yesteryear into technical, highly skilled boxers with unparalleled ring smarts. If only the commentators and journalists who'd watched these men live or devoted their careers to covering boxing had had access to your insights and streamables...

PS- Falling back on the same bogus strawman arguments again eh? Show me where I said that no older fighters ever threw 1-2s.

Alot of the examples he gives are things that a good amateur boxer does after a year of solid training, even earlier if he watches fight films.

You might find this video comparing Andrea degrass the Olympic silver medalist and Jesse Owens. It's showed that a sprinter from the 30s was maybe even faster then Bolt under the same conditions.

The athletes from the past had some advantages also. Less sedentary life styles and organic food free of contamination, pure air and water also. Lots of kids now days eat a lot of ready made food plus are more sedentary.

Degrass would surely have run the 100m faster if he had a few months to train and adapt to old school shoes and the surface. Of course he isnt going to perform his best if you suddenly give him completely different shoes, a different surface and 0 starting blocks, he trained himself and his running technique his entire career to push off starting blocks, use modern shoes and run on artificial track surface. He's a finely tuned athlete being thrown off by new and different conditions, which is not being accounted for. Bad comparison IMO

Yeah I think he would have run it faster also training more under the same conditions. But Owens ran almost a full second faster, thats a lot of time to make up, 7 tenths of a second.

Maybe he could make it up maybe not but Degrasse isnt Usain Bolt Usain Bolts personal record is .34 seconds faster tha degrasse's. Either way even if boxers hadnt evolved physically p4p....Joshua would still be 60 pounds heavier. If Archie Moore dropped him, Joshua is putting him asleep. Just because Marciano was very tough and retired undefeated would you say he gets up from a bullet to the head? Im obviously exaggerating but a 250 pound conditioned powerpuncher is so far above anything Marciano has faced in terms of firepower its ridiculous. Add to that Marciano's style i would bet on Marciano getting Stopped inside 4 rounds.
Again does Rocky Graciano at 165 in the ring or beat a 225 pound power puncher with 14 inches more skill and decent-good skills? Lets say frank bruno in his 20s. Would you bet on Graziano?

Well Owens ran 7 tenths faster then Degrass so it's up for debate if Owens was faster then Bolt who only 3.4 tenths faster.

Joshua hits hard no doubt but Marciano may have been the hardest hitting boxer there has ever been. You might wonder how that is possible since Marciano was only about 185 to 190 pounds at 5'11. Those particular dimensions are very close to optimum for generating power. Marciano punch was recorded to be the hardest punch all time by scientists. Mickey Mantle who was close to the same dimensions as Marciano had the furthest recorded home runs in MLB history.

This is a picture of Bobby Hull at 5'10 190 pounds. Hardest slap shot all time. Notice his muscle definition, it is phenomenal. And he achieved that body without modern training techniques. It was a lot of working on a farm that built him up.

No, not even close. An amateur boxer after a year of solid training isn't conditioned to fight 15 hard rds with a high punch count, able to be in position to throw a knockout punch after missing a huge power punch, able to utilize the crouch to avoid punishment against skilled p4p atg punchers, able to go 49 - 0 in the pro ranks, and maintain constant pressure while controlling other bigger fighters in close quarter.

I would love to see you point out examples of how Marciano is unskilled, slow, and very hittable. I'm not the only one who has asked today either...
