In the light of the boring press conferences but undeniable respect between klitschko and Joshua do you think that's the way all boxers should conduct themselves, or do you prefer trashtalking, table throwing and pantomime villains?
I like a good bit of needle and a lively press conference but I also accept a lot of it is put on and it is purely done to sell tickets. Some fans actually base there hatred of people eg bellew because of their antics in the press room, but people like bellew have got fights perhaps they wouldn't have done had they conducted themselves like klitschko.Aj is a gold medallist, well marketed and therefore can play the role model.would he be acting the same if he'd come down bellews path?
Callum Smiths career has been stalling for 2 years now because hes dangerous and doesn't sell venues out.Would he have had world title fights by now if he didn't have the personality of a boiled spud and launched a table at groves or degale?

Boxing is a buisness, not just overall but on a personsl level as well.
Marketing oneself is very important you have to have something to sell urself, whether that be skills on show a killer punch or just s lively personality say like hamed or eubanks snr & jnr. or sometimes just a story will do.
Smith does have some skills and hes worth watching and following. Adding a personality in there would certainly do him no harm

Agree boxing is a business. Even the fighter that just loves to fight wants to be paid well for it. People have lives, people have wives, kids, bills, anyone who says they don't want to be paid well for what they do is talking bull.

This is why even though I think creating fake animosity is divvy if a fight may not sell as well without it why not? Joshua-klitschko didn't need it it was a huge fight no matter what, but if fighter/fighters want to bring a bit of the drama factor in to sell a fight and try and earn more dough you can't really blame them

Fake beef is so stupid but it is all in the aid of generating more Ticket sales, ppv buys and whatever else for the fighter to earn maximum £

Most fans will criticise a boxer for this but tbh when that boxer is retired most fans won't pay that boxers bills, or fund his life so it's down to the boxer to make his time as a boxer as lucrative as it can be while he is healthy and able

I believe it has a lot more to do with the boxers actual personalities as them "playing a part". This isn't the WWF where these guys arre acting all the time, all the way. These guys' actual personalities just shine trough, and it's up to the public how to react on it.

It's a sad state of affairs if boxers have to deliberately act like maladjusted, emotionally stunted morons to get attention and big fights.

I'm usually embarrassed for them when they start screaming and swearing at each other, like children.
To be fair, sometimes, in the case of guys like Chisora and Fury, I accept that these men are unhinged and 'eccentric' anyway, bipolar or autistic, and it's often all a big joke to them.
But often, for example Haye and Bellew, it seems contrived and these guys should know better. It's as if they are pathetically insecure in what they do and want to show themselves to be 'tough guys from the street' which is really silly because who gives a **** ?

Ohara Davies seems to think he knows what he doing with marketing etc to promote himself, and his profile is increasing but unfortunately he doesn't have the ability of a Callum Smith.

It's very important to forge a decent career

Someone like AJ is a diamond he has it all so everyone wants a slice. Easy for those folks . The path is laid as long as you keep performing

Look at calzaghe for example had a small following and only late in his career as he has no personality and his fight build ups were boring.

Someone like chisora who has marketed himself as some crazy man has massively increased his paycheck due to his sporting persona. He's just a glorified gatekeeper but made some good doh

It takes time with some fighters and some come late to the party in the marketability stakes.

Older fans like myself will remember for example Carl Froch having highlights of his fights shown on a Saturday afternoon between horse races on Grandstand BBC TV.

Talking wise it can almost be horses for courses.

Don Charles, Chisora's trainer, reckon Chisora is autistic. He seems that way. I'm no expert but I reckon he's somewhere on the spectrum. It's possibly unrelated to his outright craziness though but probably doesn't help him in getting his nicer side across. He's misunderstood :)
