I have to say, on "name" value alone, Tua, Vitali, Holyfield weigh pretty heavily in Byrd's favour. On the other hand he's got a lot more losses, which I feel ought to count against him.

Povetkin has Byrd himself as a scalp, lol, which complicates matters a little What's more his resume is deep, and he doesn't have many losses ... only one, to Wlad.

I'm sorry but on reflection, GOING BY NAMES ONLY, Cobra has a point. The resumes are very comparable.

That said, if we account for the way the wins were achieved, Vitali blew his competition out losing literally a handful of rounds and his losses came in controversial manners. Povetkin has the PEDs question mark over his head, and I feel that if we take the actual content of the fights into account, Vitali > Byrd and Povetkin.

The rematch was simply one of those things that never happened, through no fault of either man.

He suffered from having Vitali active for ,uch of the same period.
People equated them, and he never really got to be considered #1 for large periods.

Yeah but that comes down to the nature of these three fighters' individual physical traits and strategic approach.

Vitali is a hard fighter to win rounds against. He usually has a dominating reach advantage and is very busy, he forces his opponents to come to him, where he overwhelms them with punch out put, and gives them few opportunities to counter.

Byrd is a small defensive pocket fighter. His wins by nature are going to be ugly affairs, he often intentionally gives up early rounds to wear his opponents out.

Povetkin is a swarmer, somewhat undersized by today's standards, that takes his time to warm up and cut off the ring.

Vitali by nature is always going to appear more dominate in victory, not unlike Sonny Liston.

 

Klitschko's best win is Povetkin or Haye

 

Thanks, I don't mind arguing with you usually Dino. We talk **** to each other and disagree usually, but I respect you and your always gracious when Wlad loses, which is cool. If we condescend to each other, it's while calling each other assholes and not pretending we are lofty and above the fray like Cobra. That really pisses me off

 

One man never triggered his rematch clause. That man was Wlad , therefore its 100% on Wlad.
