I REALLY hope Chavez gives Canelo a proper whooping. It's about time Cinnamon Bun got cut down to size. Nothing like waking up with a face full of lumps and two black eyes to give one a sense of perspective of one's place in the world. No, really, it would do him good

I hear you, but Canelo could've said this before the Khan fight. It would've avoided all this mess for sure. Now , if you think about it, after beating Chavez in a spectacular fight, Canelo could've challenged GGG, confronted him for the first time, with that same macho speech he gave after flattening Amir, you know, "I'm ready, Lets do it at 160"........then fight Golovkin next

    He would've been a BOSS

Why the F did he have to blow it this ??

That scenario would be fine. As long as canelo doesn't literally demand that golovkin drop the belt, as he knows that will never happen and would be another blatantly obvious duck.

Not to get into you guys debate but GGG not getting a title shot is on him, he's not obligated to step aside and could at any point have enforced his shot. You bash Cotto/Canelo for talking bigger money fights instead of GGG yet GGG willingly agreed to forego his shot to fight bums.

Everyone wants to argue about fairness but you allow what does and doesn't happen to you, and while fans like you will claim everybody is scared reality says GHG isn't worth much while a fight vs Canelo or even Khan to a lesser degree pull in more money and attention. Golovkin to this point would rather fans talk about what he can do instead of proving it in the ring.

Look, if you want to criticize GGG for accepting the step-aside I have no complaints with that, it's a reasonable point of view. Basically it's a money vs belts situation and Golovkin went for the money hoping for a big fight with the winner.

Golovkin is not as big a star as Canelo, Pacquaio, but he is a bigger draw than Khan. And Canelo vs GGG was a bigger fight than Canelo vs Khan or Canelo vs Smith.

Canelo fans supported the Cinco de Mayo WBC belt and liked the WBC when it was announced.
Canelo haters hated the Cinco de Mayo WBC belt and hated the WBC when it was announced.

Then Canelo decides not to fight for the belt and comes out trashing the WBC.

Just like that, the two sides completely flipped their opinions around and kept typing.

    Belts are outdated.

If Golovkin were stripped of all his belts right now and held zero world titles, it wouldn't make him any less of a boxer and a victory over him would not mean less because of it.

Belts. Let their relevance be gone with the wind.

The best way to get a big fight it would seem would be to pursue it not agree to bypass it, if you in the check out line waiting at the store and you willingly let people jump in front of you that's your fault.
As far as money fights I think had it happened last year Canelo-GGG would have done around the same if not slightly better than the Khan fight, not to say Khan is a better fighter just more known at that time along with casuals thinking Floyd and Manny ducked. That's besides the point I generally agree with your premise
