I don't know about anyone else but Wlad answered so many questions I'd always asked of him. So much so I wonder just how good he's always been. So let's take the Wlad we saw come just short against Joshua and pit him in one time only fantasy fights against the very best versions of the following men: Joe Louis Muhammad Ali Sonny Liston Joe Frazier Jack Johnson Jack Dempsey Rocky Marciano
I think that 41 year old version of Wlad would at least have a "chance" at beating the bottom three. The top four I doubt.
Too tall, too heavy, too smart, too hungry. I would favour Wladimir over each man, and by KO most likely. The Joshua fight, although ultimately a losing effort, rocketed the younger Klitschko in my already high estimation. Hard to believe that was a 41 year old man in there. It annoys me that we didn't get more performances like this from him earlier in his career rather than the jab & grab clinchfests that killed interest in the division.
I think he beats Sonny of the second Ali fight, but even that is doubtable. We don't know how much of how good Klitschko looked was down to him fighting a pretty green kid who had never been past seven rounds and had never beaten anything close to a world class opponent. Joshua's 18 fight record is padded with the kind of guys any contender out there would beat. He is a talented kid, he will improve immeasurably after this but it wasn't so long ago when Wlad kept going over each time Sam Peter hit him. in this fight Wlad looked great apart from the two times the kid could sustain an attack. Let's not forget the kid took rounds off to recover from the exertion of decking Klitschko ..and this could have much to do with klit getting back into the fight. A more seasoned Joshua would not shoot his bolt like that and might finish the fight there and then..and then there would be none of the drama that makes Wlad look so good. Boxing is very much a sport where you look only as good as the other man will let you.
Yeah really. The only one ever resembling a super heavyweight that Frazier stopped was a fat out of shape Buster Mathis who's record was padded and extended Joe something like 11 rounds. Joe Bugner took him to the cards. I don't see how guys of this caliber can hang around all night with Frazier but Wlad somehow falls during the announcements as some people would like to believe.
LOL, How many rounds did WK win, how often was he decked/ultimately ko'ed, how often was he on wobbly legs, how often was he gassed, how often was he betrayed by his chin again ? Answer, all of the above, he won like , what, two rounds , against a green inexperienced fighter whose record is pure shid up to the WK fight. AJ needed to get off the mat to eventually prevail against this mummy.....he is way over rated for his future abilities plus his so called power is average at best for a man of his size. One thing for sure, AJ's first loss will be by KO, you can take that to the bank and it could happen relatively soon. To give it some perspective......insert Caveman Peter from their first encounter WK would have been ko'ed way before the eleventh round..........insert a Prime Tyson or Foreman and he would have needed the sniffing salt after 3 rounds max. BTW, AJ would be ko'ed by those two rather quick too, no doubts about. One more time, prime or severely diminished now, WK CANNOT take sustained pressure, he has to think to keep you at bay, if you take him out of his comfort zone and he has to fight on instinct he IS TOAST as witnessed against Purrity, Sanders, Brewster and ultimately against Green Horn AJ . This thread is nothing more than a thinly disguised attempt to talk AJ up in his win a against a washed up 41 year old fighter who , literally, stunk the joint out for a decade. Frazier will push him three minutes a round until WK topples over from exhaustion, Dempsey will beat him to the punch every time until the KO and prime Louis, Liston and Ali don't loose to 41 year olds, period, but I would make WK a decisive favorite to beat Johnson or Marciano, because against both he would be able to employ his jab and grab/lean on style.
who koed wlad fast would be the better question. wlad K if you ever get a time machine. and DONT ASK DUMB QUESTIONS! Do YOUR OWN RESEARCH these days, wikipedia is a click away.
he didn't blend it did he wlad ! he has everything but just played it safe. I agree he beats all on list
There's no real mention of AJ in this thread. It's more about my ranking of Wlad than my ranking of AJ. Your post in a thinly veiled attempt at talking up Vitali Klitschko as a great win for Chris Byrd.
Seems a strange pick so I was wondering if you was privvy to some knowledge I wasn't. I'd be amazed if Joe Frazier ko'd Wlad fast to be totally honest.
