The only thing that Marciano and Joshua have in common now is they can both get up off the canvas...and then come back and win a fight. The man has 19 wins...19!!! He's not HOF material yet!!! Rocky is an ATG warrior...
...he didn't have the size....the height....the reach....but he had Charlie Goldman...and look at what he did with what he did have!!! Joshua has a long way to go...and if he gets his ass kicked in his next fight and loses the title
...than this discussion is all for naught!!! The Rock was a proven commodity...if Joshua gets his nose split open down to the freakin' bone...and then storms back to win....then we'll talk...until then...looks like you'll have to wait!!!

I wasn't being snarky or sarcastic there-- it was a sincere question.

Sure, I havent grown in height since i was 14 but my frame kept getting thicker and i might not even be able to comfortably get under 210 today even if i stopped lifting and just did boxing training and calisthenics. But it really wouldnt be the same at a different gym. I trained at a Gym in Rockville Maryland and sometimes even trained with(more like trained by) 2 time WBA MW champ William Joppy who is a great guy. I loved that gym and my actual coach was almost like a father to everyone in my amateur team

I don't think I've been discrete at all in the times when I've disrespected you or rebuked your opinions in the past. I'm just very, very curious about your thought process in writing the statement that I asked about. I honestly don't see what's disrespectful about that.

    Work on your social skills.
Don't accost people when you want them to divulge personal information about themselves. And don't do it with subterfuge.

If you were generally curious, you would ask "Why do you think you would do good?."

    Not
"Oh because you hit the bags hard?"
It seems obviously like a sarcastic remark, and it also seems like you're backpeddaling which is what I meant by discreet.

That's awesome man, sounds a lot like my gym environment.
My coach has professionals approaching him all the time but he prefers working with amateurs because they don't have crazy egos.

What do you think your fighting weight would be at? I've always been curious about natural 210lb guys in modern boxing because you are kind of in the middle of CW and the SHWs. Have you thought about that? Thanks!

I agree with this. We won't know if Joshua is a great fighter until he gets his nose split by an aging 192-lb former MW/LHW who lost 3 of his last 5 fights (and then loses most of his future fights).

Its not that hard, watching fight films can help TREMENDOUSLY, only a true naturally gifted athlete will learn certain things like laying traps for example on his own without seeing them on film or in the gym, performed by more advanced boxers. Unless you have your own personal coach, you will have to figure alot of things out on your own especially if youre not so talented that you just do them naturally. If Reznik is a hard puncher, works hard and gets in good shape and actually manages to apply the knowledge you gain from watching films, theres no reason why he shouldnt be able to be atleast moderately succesful at least at the amateur level.

Or about the time Lewis apparently got beat up by a 177-lb fighter who'd only won 4 of his previous 23 fights, en route to winning a gift decision?

From The Providence Journal, October 11, 1949 MARCIANO GETS DECISION OVER TED LOWRY ROCKY'S SHOWING IS WEAK AGAINST VETERAN BOXER Brockton Boy Just Weathers Early Storm, Then Foe's Attack Slackens By Michael J. Thomas There were strange developments and questions left unanswered as Rocky Marciano, undefeated young Brockton heavyweight was awarded a unanimous decision over Tiger Ted Lowry of New Haven in their 10- rounder at the Auditorium last night. Marciano, in the first place, did not win the fight, as this observer saw it. This reporter gave it to Lowry, 6 rounds to 4, but this wasn't the dilemma-hardly. There were some questions as to whether Lowry, who came close to knocking out Marciano in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds, deliberately had bogged down in his attack after the 4th stanza. Many in the crowd felt he had. Asit was, the referee, Ben Maculan, warned Lowry 3 times to open up. In the 5th, he bellowed, ''Open up, or I'll toss you out'' and twice similarly threatened him in the 7th. If Lowry had not punched with the vigor he did in the first 4 stanzas, this observer unhesitatingly would say that Lowry intentionally slowed up. But Lowry punched as though bent on making a kill in the early stages. The wonder of it was that Marciano withstood the punishment he took. Lowry stung him with 2 terrific rights in the 1st. He rocked him with 2 vicious uppercuts in the 2nd, either of which would have finished a less durable boxer. And in the 4th, Lowry had Marciano in such a bad way that it appeared it would be only a matter of time before he would complete his kill. Lowry suddenly stopped using his uppercut after the 4th, however. He went into a shell and only occasionally landed power shots. He seemed to be carrying Marciano. The crowd booed and Maculan, not liking what he saw, stormed at Lowry, who responded with an impassive look. It may have been that Lowry, 9 year ring veteran, tired. It may have been that he weakened from Marciano's unending body attack, but whatever the reason, there was an appreciable decline in his offensive operations in the 2nd half of the fight and it didn't look good to the crowd, nor to this observer. [to be continued]
    ...
The bout ended on an exciting note, with Marciano tossing a punch after the bell and Lowry, seemingly aroused, wanting to continue. The referee stepped in and stopped the overtime hostilities. Lowry came close to flattening Rocky just before the finish with a right hook. Marciano rocked, but regained his balance. Lowry all but shattered the aura of invincibility that has been built around Marciano by the manner in which he pelted him in the early stanzas. The bout, though it probably will do Marciano much good, showed that he isn't ready for major opposition. Marciano, who had won 19 of his previous 20 fights on knockouts, did not have his punch last night. Lowry took the steam out of him with his early blitz. There were times when Rocky merely pawed at his opponent and he carried a worried look after the 2nd round. He was much busier of the two however, particularly after the 4th. He landed 3 punches to Lowry's 1 from the 5th round on, concentrating wholly on the body. His aggressiveness and constant punching probably was what caught the eye of the 3 officials, but his thrusts lacked sting to be effective. Many should have been discounted altogether.

I would try to still make the 201lb amateur HW limit . When i started i was like 16 and 180-185 pounds in shape already from training in Muay Thai and training for and competing in Powerlifting, by the time i got hurt i was 18 and 200-205 in shape. I havent grown in height since maybe age 14 because i was an early bloomer like i said but my frame kept getting thicker.
