Why ? Is Joshua the greatest of all time or something ?

Hard to say, a style like Fury's is hard to gauge and I'm unsure if he caught lightning in a bottle or if he's a great talent himself.

Much easier to gauge to someone like Joshua for me.

One day we could be saying exactly that.

Of course Joshua is good. In that fight. But that's it, it's too early to jump the gun, he may very well be every bit as good for a long time..or a short time, we don't know yet. It's one fight. And he did very well in one fight.

The first 17 fights were not above Jonny Shkor level in my opinion.

We don't know how much of how good Klitschko looked was down to him fighting a pretty green kid who had never been past seven rounds and had never beaten anything close to a world class opponent.

Joshua's 18 fight record is padded with the kind of guys any contender out there would beat. He is a talented kid, he will improve immeasurably after this but it wasn't so long ago when Wlad kept going over each time Sam Peter hit him.

in this fight Wlad looked great apart from the two times the kid could sustain an attack. Let's not forget the kid took rounds off to recover from the exertion of decking Klitschko ..and this could have much to do with klit getting back into the fight.

A more seasoned Joshua would not shoot his bolt like that and might finish the fight there and then..and then there would be none of the drama that makes Wlad look so good.

Boxing is very much a sport where you look only as good as the other man will let you.

This is the kind of material some people will use to discredit good boxers:

They'll use something like this, and paint a whole biography of a man.

    1. So Peter (who was huge and hit like a truck) knocked Wlad down. What about the guys who knocked Louis or Ali down? I doubt many if any hit as hard as Peter.

    2. Nah. Check out Duran/Leonard 1 and tell me who looks anything less than an elite world class talent?

ps. I realise it is boxing parlance but your insistence on repeatedly referring to the 27/28 year old World Heavyweight Champion as "kid" 10 times in each post is pretty annoying and disrespectful.

Peter hit good but not well enough to bother James Toney.

Obviously both fighters can look great at the same time, even the one losing here, but boxing is all about levels too. It's one thing looking great after a long lay off against one guy but my hunch is Wlad would not look so great after that lay off against say Tyson Fury.

Again I must stress, Joshua is good, could possibly go on to be great for this era, I genuinely hope so.. but when all said and done he was the kid in this fight because it was his "coming of age fight" Since it was literally his first non set up. He will go on from this.

Then you could also argue a less declined Wlad doesn't let Joshua off the hook and finishes him there and then.

Joshua is 27 now, i wonder how many champions before him were older than 27 when they had their breakout fight?

Let Rocky have a full year of using the same 'supplements' that Joshua uses thanks to uncle Eddies deep pockets.. then Rocky KO's Joshua in a fashion where Anthony is never the same.

Would it make him ,taller, faster, more resistant to cuts, less likely to be knocked down, more defensively skilled?

It would make him be able to recover faster from being hurt, punch even harder than he already did, make him an even more aggressive fighter and make him more explosive/quicker.

BAD news for Joshua. A Marciano with the multiple substances of today that the 'anti doping' organizations don't even know about... would be an even more wicked fighter than he already was.

PED's if that what you are talking about , and there is absolutely no proof Joshua takes them , will not make you punch harder, they will not enhance aggression , nor will they make you, more explosive ,or quicker.
Neither will they make you 8 inches taller ,or give you 14 inches more reach!
They will enable you to train harder and give you a quicker recovery rate ,they will also allow you to pack on more muscle.Adding more bulk to a 5'10" frame will slow down an already less than quick fighter,if that were not the case Marciano would have come in to the ring around 200lbs!Instead of which by training like a maniac he fought at his optimum weight for his height and physical stature,185/188lbs! Your statement is irrelevant anyway because we are discussing the"prime Marciano" that actually existed, not some mythical version.

    :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Right. What was I thinking. That's why they are banned because they don't enhance a fighter and make them more dangerous.

Thanks bud! You should definitely voice your expertise on the matter to the multiple anti doping organizations and get them to take ALL the steroids they have on their banned list. Let the guys take what ever they want!

And I'm sure the Winstrol wasn't the key factor in Ben Johnson running a 9.79 and it didn't play ANY part in Barry Bonds all the sudden hitting baseballs 70 feet further in his late 30's. More EXPLOSIVE!!! Lol! What was I thinking!!

And you're right... Joshua is as clean as a preachers sheets! The weird gut with a six pack is just do to creatine bloat and a high sodium diet.
