The danger with that quote is, lets flip the script, Wlad is known to have a pretty bad chin, he's been knocked out a number of times and knocked down even more, if your this supposed power puncher, you shouldn't be going life and death with a dodgy chinned 41 year old whose been inactive for about 2 years.

Someone like Foreman or Tyson would have had Wlad out of there within 4 rounds and that's being generous.

I think maybe Joshua is being severely overrated. Specifically his power.

If you look at his pre Wlad opponents none of them were anything special. They were the usual run of the mill cannon fodder any prospect is meant to be destroying in a couple of rounds easy.

So why is Joshua getting the hype for doing the same thing pretty much most fighters have done through history? I mean if he kod Povetkin, Pulev etc that's fine, but he's kod absolute nobodies. So I believe Joshuas power is being overrated or Wlad suddenly developed an amazing chin overnight at the age of 41 because Klitscko took a lot of clean shots that night before going down.

We didn't know much about Whyte but he gave Joshua some trouble and now he's gone on to show he's a decent fighter himself.

Joshuas been rocked and/or down by the two decent fighters he's fought.

Winning the title of Charles Martin was nothing special, Martin must have the record for being THE absolute worst champion ever, surely?

Joshua is another Bruno, Bruno just had a better chin whereas Joshua has more heart.

They've done a great job marketing Joshua, but I'm not buying the hype.

I think Joshua is better than Bruno, he can come back from adversity,Bruno never did. imo Joshua has real power ,as good as Bruno's,Wilder's ? I'm not sure.We need more meat in the sandwich first!

Joshua is better than Bruno because he didn't crumble and he came back. Also, he looks more natural and fluid in his attack when he's going for the kill, his punches flow, his hands are fast. He's a killer.

Is Joshua being severely overrated ? Yes, sure he is. But I'm more comfortable with it post-Saturday night than the horrendous overrating going on prior. Having said that, pre-fight I thought Wlad would probably win by stoppage sometime, so I was slightly underrating.

Just about every pure killer-puncher type is history gets overrated.
The average fans, (and those sports fans who don't follow much boxing too), like viciousness, aggression, KOs etc.

I think the chin issues with Wlad are exaggerated considering he hasn't been stopped prior to Joshua (debunking the bad chin reputation in the process) for over a decade and he has never been put to sleep or knocked out by anyone who lacked power.

I don't think anyone can argue Joshua isn't being overrated to some degree and I remain uncertain of the level of one-punch power.

Joshua's pre-Wlad opposition may not have been anything special but some were prospects themselves, some undefeated and the rest are only "cannon fodder" for elite prospects like he was.
Joshua has indeed been marketed well and everything from the ring entrances to the lucozade advert =:vomiton22je:.
But I am kind of buying the hype.

By the way, just for the record, it's worth noting that Stevens got up and lasted another 6 rounds with Golovkin (while taking another 250 punches from him). All told, Golovkin hit him nearly 300 times that fight, including numerous sharp, well leveraged power punches. I could be wrong but I have a hard time picturing Stevens withstanding that quantity and quality of shots from someone like Povetkin, whatever Golovkin's sparring partner says.

Cool GIF and Golovkin clearly hits very hard, but let's try to keep things in perspective.

Rocky worked by imposing himself on his opponents. His only effective style was very physical, very pace driven, constantly pursuing and giving no room for breath. It's, by nature, a physical, smothering style. And he just gets "out-physicaled" in this match-up. Joshua is simply too much man and Rocky is just too non-technical and too limited in his toolbox. Joshua's major flaw is his stamina but one has to tire him out. And to do that, one has to both give and take. The giving is going to be exponentially harder with Rock's style and Joshua's size and strength... and the taking is going to be like nothing he has ever taken before.

Wlad isn't known to have a bad chin though. His engine let him down against Purritty and Brewster, his aggression let him down against Sanders.

He spent the next decade avoiding a knockout despite fighting the best HW fighters throughout.

I think it's like Lewis, he gets an initial chubby ranking but ultimately is remembered as a solid fighter.

It is possible Joshua is over hyped. But it is also possible Wlad is more durable than was first thought.

    Time will tell.

    HGH makes you taller

Androgens make you faster and vastly improve punch resistance while allowing you to train more frequently at higher intensities.

Anabolic RBC recruitment can make you more resistant to cuts as well by making the skins collagen content more supple and less likely to tears although this one is marginal.

I posted here and stated my idea of a LEVEL playing field if the fight were to take place. And yes I know Joshua would still have a size advantage.. But Rocky would probably be 210-220 after a year or so of Uncle Eddies UKAD 'Cheek Turning' diet ;) And yes.. Marciano WOULD be quicker, more aggressive and stronger.

But you think differently. No worries

No worries from me either I'm just interested in matching fighters as they actually are/were.

Hence Anthony's newfound sprinting ability doing an 11.4 100 meters at 250lbs and somehow recovering after that Wlad hydrogen bomb and oddly getting his second wind in the 11th.

You know absolutely nothing about what PED's can do. I would bet you are a little guy who is weak and has no idea about performance or pushing the limits of human exertion, assisted or otherwise.

    But Christ... a 185lb heavyweight from the 50's against a modern 250lb heavyweight o_O

Like they say.. there are weight divisions for a reason. Lol
