Certainly was not the best of fights given the opponent stepping in at 2 weeks notice but we had to endure gash from A Dame Smith making out this was the worst World Heavyweight Title Fight ever. His memory must be shot as surely working at Sky he must remember the worst stinker ever broadcast and it was on PPV - Fury v Klitschko with Haye v Valuev coming a close second. Many other worse stinkers broadcast including Haye v Klitschko, Joshua v Martin and Wilder v Pudding Stiverne. This fight was created due to Pooey Fury pulling out less than 2 weeks before the fight so credit to the big man for stepping in at late notice and giving Parker a fight when many would not. Then we listen to Dullian Shyte in the studio claiming he would have taken Parker today - why did you not give him a call you cant and take the fight at 2 weeks notice. The opportunity was there and the same Shyte cant has fought opponents in the past given them less than 2 weeks notice. Yes Parker there for the taking but fook me the Sky Boxing Team get worse by the week.
One of the worst HW title fights of all time was Martin v Joshua. The whole thing was a shambles. We had Gloves are Off for that shitshow in the ring and it featured a horrific dive from Martin to top it off.
Yes it was not the best of fights but certainly could not match Fury v Klitschko on the stinkometer. You don't hear A Dame Smith being critical of any fight being poor on Sky Box Office - he certainly has had many opportunities with all the stinkers
Parker is bang average and very boring to watch. He barely beat Ruiz who is about 5 ft tall for he title in another boring fight. Hearn will no doubt be on the phone to try to bring this bum over for AJ later in the year for an easy win with the added bonus of another belt.
It'll be Bellew vs Parker imo. There's an inch in height between them and Bellew's movement will have Parker in trouble. If Haye had beaten Bellew I think this would have been an easy belt for him to pick up. I've said this for a few months now, I suspect the hype around this lad is smoke and mirrors. I could be wrong but he's a big fish in a little pond down there.
I remember a HW world title fight with British 50 year old guy Skeletor v Chagaev oh my god how the F did he get a world title fight at all but God the most boring fight ever.
Fury klitchko the worst Heavy weight title fight ever? Gimme a break. It obviously wasn't exciting to the level of the AJ fight but it was a good chess match.
Least it only took up 5 minutes of our life. That pony was 36 of the most uneventful minutes of boxing I've ever seen.
It was a boring fight. But nowhere near as bad as the Parker fight. Plus, Fury beat the champ who hadn't lost in a decade, finding a way to win was more important than the method.
You know mate, I don't even think it was a case of him finding a way to win. He didn't have to dig deep, it wasn't life or dead, it was a comfortable victory in the end against one of the ATG's of heavyweight boxing. Hearn must be gutted that he's trying to come back and I think he was trying to mentally derail Fury by suggesting it'll take him 3 years to get ready for a fight with AJ. Hearn needs to keep Fury away from AJ and hope he goes off the rails again cos I really believe he would beat AJ in unspectacular fashion.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if Parker and his team decided to carry the guy in the hopes of luring Wilder in. Wilder's team only take opponents that they feel pose absolutely no threat. This may have been a very clever step from Parker.
