Kovalev vs Ward HBO Face Off cancelled as Ward no show

Exactly, Lomachenko needs to fight Mikey Garcia to get the credit of taking on a top ten P4P guy like Ward, Kovalev, Canelo and Triple G are doing. Gonzalez losing also opened up the P4P #1 even more because a lot of people had him P4P #1. Some still have him P4P but he took a bloody beating (even if you thought he won) to a guy that no one really knew anything about and that doesn't exactly scream P4P #1. Now with Gonzales out of the P4P #1 slot, it really comes down to Ward, Kovalev, Canelo, Triple G, Lomachenko, Mikey Garcia, Crawford, Thurman, and possibly a guy like Spence if he beats Brook. Lomachenko really needs Mikey to stay at 135 otherwise he doesn't really have anybody to fight that can compare to fights like Ward vs Kovalev or Canelo vs Triple G. It would really be cool if Lomachenko vs Mikey can get made for this summer because then we’d really have 3 fights that could each be argued the winner deserves P4P #1.

Indeed. I do doubt that Lomachenko-Garcia gets made though, I understand that it has not been seriously discussed yet. And you're right, Lomachenko looks like p4p #1 but does need to find a p4p level opponent to get there quickly.

This is going to cut into the ratings of their fight. It's essentially free publicity and a half hour infomercial for their show. What kind of idiot throws away millions of dollars worth of exposure to his target audience? How can he demand so much money when he isn't a big draw and does nothing to increase his popularity? He should be going on talk shows and doing interviews on the radio to drum up interest in the event. What the **** is wrong with him? He's such an entitled diva. When Tex Cobb didn't show up for a press function Don King docked his purse 100k. I hope Roc Nation does something similar.

 

Leaning towards Spence as well, but it's a bit of a mystery to me because I really don't know what kind of shape Brook is in and if he will have trouble making weight. I favor Spence because of all the question marks surrounding Brook. If I had to make a prediction, I would pick Spence by decision as well, but I wouldn't be shocked at Spence stopping Brook as I rate Spence highly. If Spence wins, I definetly want to see Spence vs Thurman which would be an unbelievable fight and another big P4P relevent fight. Of course Brook at 100% could certainly be a stiff test for Spence as well, especially on his own turf so I mean I wouldn't rule out a close Brook decision either. This is a step up for Spence so it'll be interesting to see how he responds.

 

Stevenson is a disgusting piece of ****. Ward is just an unprofessional diva.

 

For me Gonzalez is still undefeated #1 p4p. Nobody else is competing in a fourth weight class like him. That makes the crown his by default.

 

I fully expect Ward to continue his residence underneath Krusher's skin. There's no real reason for him not to.

Kovalev's got to not let that phase him and focus more on fixing his conditioning in training camp this time around.

 

You can definitely still make a case for Gonzalez, although Pacquaio is not retired yet and is fighting in his 8th weight class.

I have no doubt that were you to run into him in the airport or on the street, you'd be as cringey a lickspittle as ever gargled a set of nuts.

 

No matter how much you dislike Ward, you cannot compare him to Stevenson.

Stevenson has a serious criminal record, hardly fights, and when he does he fights the most uninspiring opponents you can think of.

Ward may come across as arrogant or a diva, but he lives a clean lifestyle and fights other top fighters. Yes, he was a bit fortunate with the judges last time out but you can't blame him for that. I think rage over the Kovalev decision is making people hate Ward, truth is he's miles away from that clown Stevenson.

 

No, I'd call him "Son of Gift" to his face. What's he gonna do? Punch me? Butt me? Sure, I'll take a punch for a multi million dollar lawsuit.

What a surprise.

They didn't treat Ward well the first fight, they put his name on the right side of the poster when he was the CLEAR A-Side of the negotiations. I honestly think Main Events has it out for Ward, they keep discriminating against him, not sure why. Not only that, but Ward won the last fight, close but CLEARLY.

Ward is one of the nicest, most humble men in the sport. An intelligent, humble, down to earth Family man. And people find the need to make things up to try and smear that great man.

We've seen everything we needed to know about em in fight #1, how many more faceoffs do we need?

 

So Ward threatened to sue Kov if he didn't show up for this face off.....
