Rocky was very difficult to time. He followed through when he threw his right with a deep bob to his left then coming up back to his right. Walcott who thought he would counter Rocky to death found himself looking for him more often than not. I used to be a huge Marciano detractor but over the years better understanding his skills he really had all the attributes necessary to be successful in any era. Determined, tough as nails, will to win at any cost, perfectly trained to fight 15 fast rounds, physically strong with one punch ko power in each fist.

For what its worth, Peter Marciano said when they sparred his brother would stick his tongue out when he was about to get serious or took a good shot.

 

I recall some one saying that but didn't realise it was his brother. Something along the lines of, if rocky put his tongue out he was getting fired up so watch the hell out.

 

That was pretty much every punch Marciano threw and it seemed like he threw them non stop!

 

Your average modern day elite heavy would be seeing this from a decidedly different, more top-down, angle.

 

An uppercut would see that tongue sliced in half.

 

Sticking out his tongue was a trademark mannerism of Rocky's when he got mad.
