Canelo struggles with the Lara, Mayweather style. GGG doesn't move and box on the backfoot like they do
70/30 favour for GGG. GGG would be beaten by Billy Joe Saunders. But not by a man with such slow feet, like canelo has. Canelo maybe able to counter GGG for a few rounds and light him up occasionaly with faster hands but hes not a big puncher, and he cant plod away for long.
"in his only other big fight" problem is ggg has never had a "big fight" canelo gained major speed moving up in weight, now cutting back down to 160 canelo will have some extra strength, we all know strength plus speed equals power. canelo has great head and upper body movement but he is flat footed, will his head and upper body movement be enough to be able to stand in the pocket and counter ggg to a decision is the big question in my opinion. i think canelo has a solid chin, look at his neck it looks like a pitbulls neck, i don't think ggg can knock him out or even tko him because his defense is very good but ggg can hurt canelo in to a boring technical chess match in which canelo could end up being gifted a close decision.
That's the problem with statistics. I think a lot of people give GGG a small to moderate edge in the fight. But if all a poll asks is who do you have, it will not reflect that.
its damn close to 50/50. and im a ggg fan. canelos continues to get better. his combination punching improved tremendously. i think the age benefits canelo cuz pro ring experience canelo has slight advantage. lets hope the fight is at 160 and making weight isnt an issue with anyone. ggg has a great a jab and he will use it n everything will work from there
Yeah it really is. I slightly favor Canelo but a year ago I favored GGG. They both have skills and attribute to bother each other.
I am the exact same. Canelo really is a good boxer and I made the mistake of just thinking he's a power puncher. Bit slow on his feet but GGG doesnt have the movement to exploit that weakness GGG great jab, one of best pressure fighters today, probably biggest punching MW and chin of steel. More I think about the fight the more I change my mind, that's why I was so shocked to see people so confident in one fighter demolishing the other!
To me, I started thinking about how the fight is going to end up in terms of ring geography. Canelo has slow feet, and Golovkin cuts the ring off well. So they're going to be at least somewhat within each other's range very often. So I ask myself, who is going to be sharper and more accurate in the exchanges? And the answer to that is Canelo. So while it might be dangerous for him to lay on the ropes for too long, he's not helpless and I see him getting GGG's respect. Especially since GGG has the tendency to kind of wait until you finish your combinations before resuming his work.
I just hope that IF it comes off that its a fair fight with no shennanikins. With the better man on the day deservedly getting the win. Will that happen ???? If the fights in Vegas GGG will have to KO or stop Canelo to win, no way he'd win a dec there over the new cash cow. Its heartbreaking really when you cannot rely on it being a fair fight
I'm sort of thinking Canelo wins a razor close, controversial-to-some and oft discussed decision. This time last year I favored Golovkin for sure... It's a tough one, calling it 50/50 is fair.
I feel you on the Vegas shenanigans. You have to accept that life isn't fair, and boxing is a cruel sport in many ways. Great talents get frozen out. Boxers get brain damage. Canelo is the cash cow with a solid 5 years left at least while GGG will be retired in 2. It benefits the power players to give Canelo the W
Here's how I see the breakdown between the two, for what it's worth I'm still mulling over who to pick: Power: This content is protected . Easy pick. Canelo has power but not in the same league as GGG. Chin: This content is protected . Canelo has a very good chin too, however GGG's is more proven at MW. Speed: This content is protected . Easy pick. GGG has average hand speed, Canelo is fast. Footwork: This content is protected . GGG cuts off the ring very well with his footwork while Canelo's feet are a bit slow. Jab: This content is protected . Canelo has a good jab too, but I will go with GGG's which won his fight against Jacobs close to single-handedly. Besides, GGG has a small height and reach advantage. Combination punching: This content is protected . Golovkin has decent combo's but I pick Canelo as his combinations show more variety. Also Canelo punches well to the body. Counter-punching: This content is protected . Golovkin has not done a lot of counter punching in most of his fights, so I'll go with Canelo. Experience: This content is protected . Golovkin has plenty of experience in the ring + many amateur fights, but he hasn't experienced this kind of mega event before. Canelo has. That's 4-4, hmmm ....
