Just put them on ignore. Problem solved!

You just cant explain simple concepts like weight classes to ignorant people that dont wanna listen.

    That ship has already sailed.

Prime Ali weighted in at 201 pounds in 1966. Add pre fight weigh ins and 200 is a nobrainer. Ali would definitly be a cruiser today...

But somehow an outdated natural cruiser from the 60's is supposed to beat modern true heavyweights...

I agree with you about Ali/Joshua H2H, but you have to understand that Muhammad Ali means a lot to people and picking a relatively inexperienced boxer to beat him will always result in your claim being met with anger or even ridicule. It wouldn't matter to some if Joshua fought and beat 50 top ranked contenders in similar fashion to what we have seen from him so far, Ali is untouchable.

You sound quite new to boxing but once you are better acquainted with the history of the sport you will learn that professional boxing has had a Benjamin Button like existence. The first few guys to put gloves on for a fight back in 1744 were the finest technicians of the sweet science, whereas nowadays you have stiff, robotic, amateurs as champions.

Remember this each time you get frustrated - the same people who champion Ali as an indestructible master had to listen to their father/uncle/granny tell them that a man with the christian name of 'Gunboat' would flatten young Cassius Clay in 1 round.

Yeah, It's pathetic to call someone a troll just because they claimed a 41 year old fighter was his absolute PHYSICAL prime. You made too much sense there.

I understand that, but they give a lot of disrespect to the new improved heavyweights.

Thats so true. People wear the rose tinted glasses and cant see what is in front of them.
No doubt in my mind Joshua would beat Ali but as you say, certain fighters mean alot to some people and they cant get past that

Well they will be forced to respect Joshua once he becomes undisputed champion and gets to 40-0.
All AJ has to do is to continue to duck Hughie Fury and he should make it.

He was also nearly 213 against Williams 212 against Terrell , 211 against Folley, and 210 against Patterson, also later in his career he was very often was over 217 pounds. if Ali was around today he could very well fight heavyweight no doubt about that.

If this thread was started after Joshua-Klitschko, it would have got far less heat.

Starting this thread earlier was jumping the gun a bit, it was basically assuming Joshua was truly elite and then comparing him to Ali. It's a little bit like the threads we have right now: "after Golovkin KOs Canelo, who will he fight?" or "After Canelo beats Golovkin, who's next?" They're taking for granted something that hasn't happened yet. It might well happen, but it's more constructive to discuss the issues one at a time. Hence, now that Joshua has more or less proven himself the #1 HW in the world, there is a basis to start threads like this one.

Plus some weird arguments about Wilder getting force from punching downwards with gravity, Joshua being more agile than Ali despite being bigger, Joshua "outclassing" Wlad, Wlad having his "best performance" ever and being in his "physical prime", those sort of way-out arguments are always going to draw flak. If you are a Joshua fan, just be honest and logical. Your boy is definitely good enough, he doesn't need you to fabricate stuff or rewrite history to his advantage.

I tend to think modern heavies could indeed beat the old ATGs due to their size and power, but IMO the above two arguments put the discussion in this thread into context.

Don't forget Joshua having better footwork than Ali(which is more or less as ridicuolus as Margarito having better defence than Sweet Pea), him being master at countering over the jab(which he was far from against Wlad) based on the Gary Cornish fight, Whyte being better than Buster Mathis, Cornish being a better win than guys like Zora Folley and Doug Jones, and so on and on.

With all this idiotic comments being made, It comes down to the same with these people who believe Ali would be overmatched against AJ: They also believe It all comes down to power in boxing.

    It doesn't.

You can tell the guys who have never been in the ring before and those who have and had the c rap beat out of them by a smaller fighter.
