We just got this new bag at gym, and I gave it a spin after a 4 hour workout! https://streamable.com/v8j4b I know I still need to refine my form, and I'm working on it! Any feedback would be cool, thanks!
Form form form, I mean I'm no expert but just work on form and then hone everything else, don't start power punching till you get the form down since it can form bad habits (see what I did there ) good luck bro. !
In all seriousness, I think you would benefit from taking heed of this advice, from a comment on your January video:
Are you stalking me?! My January video? Yeah, my form on the hook is something I need to work on. I have to turn my foot more. As well as overall form. I threw some body shots there, but I should mix it up more.
Just my two cents as a compete poseur but it looks like you're at a point in your training where you might benefit most by focusing especially on improving your movement (speeding up your footwork around the bag, throwing in more head movement, changing your level, working in more slips and feints, etc.) while working the bag. Your abilities there really appear to be lagging behind your punching. There are a lot of great youtube videos by the usual guys, that you might find very beneficial. You can also work on this stuff well while shadow boxing.
Yeah it's my knees. I need to keep them bent more which will let me relax and move my head naturally. And I need to set up my range with my jab better.
Your punches look like pushes now. You need to learn to snap more your punches, step behind the shots and remember to maintain defence.
A few things to work on. Not looking too bad at all....keep it up. 1 - hooks are landing on the wrong knuckles - you're landing on the door knocking knuckles. Gotta land on the correct knuckles. Turn that fist inward. 2 - Trajectory - Get your elbow behind your punches. On a hook, your elbow is lower than your fist. It has to be following same the trajectory as your fist, in a straight linear trajectory. Think of a dart or arrow. It will only penetrate the target if the head and the tail follow the same linear trajectory. 3 - Footwork has you leading the side-shuffle with the wrong foot. If yer shuffling right - start with the right foot. Shuffling left - left foot. That way you avoid crossing your legs during the shuffle. Your feet should remain about shoulder width apart and never cross - your balance will suffer if your legs cross. 4 - Lastly, slow down your flurries. When people rush a series of hooks without getting the proper rotation of your waist, you wind up just swinging your arms while your waist remains stationary. You need to slow it down, so your waist gets a chance to rotate. That's the difference between hitting someone with 8 lbs (the weight of your arm) vs. hitting someone with 140 lbs (your approximate bodyweight). You can work on speed later. For now, nail the form. Keep it up, and post more videos in the future of your progress.
Ya forgot to mention that too. Snap those punches. Your following through with the jabs, and trying to push through. Punches should "bounce" off the target. Not push. Too much unnecessary waste of energy.
