People were discussing this in another thread, so I created a poll with the same fighters Liston and Joshua.m
Well Joshua is actually outreached here, I don't think he's particularly faster than Liston despite perceptions, he may just find himself outjabbed here. As for Liston not having the heart for battle, he fought a full fight against Marty Marshall with a broken jaw, he came through two toe to toe slugfests with the hard punching prime Cleveland Williams had his nose broken in one but never buckled and took him out. What he couldn't handle mentally was Ali's craziness. In all fairness size is an issue here, Liston wouldn't have faced a big 6'6" power puncher like Joshua. Liston though was a big man, massive across the shoulders wouldn't be intimidated by Joshua either, he was an intimidator. He had excellent upper body and head movement and a wide array of punches and believe me he would be in the pocket firing back at Joshua. I like Joshua he ticked a couple of more boxes against Wlad but I'm not yet ready to concede that he takes out Sonny Liston.
Liston More stamina More speed Better footwork Better jab better upper body movement Less durable Less strength Equal power
