15 rounder s. Do you feel that boxing has suffered or gained with losing them?

The scrapping of the 15 rounder s has probably affected quite a few fight out comes. The championship rounds produced some great comeback s and really separated the men from the boys. For safety reasons they've now been gone some time but do you feel championship boxing has suffered with the loss of rounds? Did it produce more dramatic performance s and ending s. Has it actually made a difference in injury s or fatalities. The reason I posted this is due to watching the pre 12 rounders and enjoying those 3 extra rounds. Just a extra 9 minute s but I feel it definitely made a difference. Or has boxing moved on to the point where 12 s are just as good?

Wlad might have beaten Fury over 15 rounds!

Then again, the audience might have been rendered permanently comatose as well ...

Lol could be right. But joking aside the amount of fight s that I've watched as a twelve rounder and thought,, if only another few rounds, could have made a difference. The ones where a fighter s getting the upper hand but runs out of time!

I believe that the shorter fights have led to the development of the superheavyweigjts because endurance is somewhat less.of a factor now in outcomes. The goliaths of today would struggle with an additional three rounds.

I personally think they made for better matches, but it's a lot to put on boxers.

On the balance I'd say 12 is healthier for the boxers. Those extra 3 rounds when your body is already stretched to maximum can't be good for you.

Its correct and of course boxers health has to come first. I do miss the longer fights though. There was always something exciting if you had a great fight going in to the thirteen round. It felt like it was make or break. Which for leonard and marciano true.

If you make a 15 round fight you will get less punch counts as the bigger guys will just coast more bc of the extra rounds...it actually means nothing.fighters fight knowing the time span they trained for. People are still going on about the wlad fight ,but Joshua has never been past even 7 prior to that, and would have just had a different stratedgy for 15 rnds.

obviously he would not try and let the fight go long had he had to fight a 15 rnder...and really had he jumped on Wlad from the very beginning you dont see roound 5 bc Wlad style and flaws to NOT handle pressure fighters well...ive said this all along. Not many guys could do that to him...Joshua is one of them.

The myth 15 rounders produce more action is false, punch counts have actually gone up with less rounds because you then have less time and rnds to lose. Its like making rounds 2 minutes....if you did that you would have more knockouts because then it sets a faster paced fight.

No, I can't. Some of those guys start huffing and puffing just getting into the ring!

I think that two minute rounds would result in fewer knockouts and fewer TKOs because a hurt fighter has a better chance of surviving in a shorter round and the aggressor obviously has more of a chance of running out of time to finish the job.

Two minute rounds wouldn't do it for me, for exectally the reason s u mentioned. I know it's only a minute extra but I just don't think you'd get the ko's u do in 3. Yes they may fight harder and faster but no time at all hardly before the round would be over. I'm surprised with bringing in health and safety measures this actually hasn't been implemented. I think there's only so much u can do, where your having two guys hitting each other to make it any easier.

I agree with what you said. Shorter rounds would be safer for the fighters but less exciting. The same is true for the standing 8 count and 3 knockdown rule. Also, the come from behind slugger is put at a disadvantage. As Quarry said, "Boxing is a cruel, vicious sport.," Perhaps the previously mentioned changes.to make.It safer have led to the rise.of the UFC, human nature being what it is.

Its definitely changed over the years. Look back at the johnson era, 40 round s. And before that sullivan even more. Just hoping it doesn't get to different in years to come as to what it is now.
