De La Hoya did a good job as Canelo's promoter

If you judge him solely as a promoter you have to admit that he did a good job. Obviously not particularly good for us hardcore boxing fans but a good job for himself and his fighter, which is basically what being promoter is all about - getting the money from the casual fans.

He managed to duck GGG brilliantly for two years and still managed to organize relatively big fights for Canelo out of nowhere. Khan fight was total risk free fight for Canelo and it ended with a good KO for highlight reel.

Digging up Chavez Jr. out of nowhere was another brilliant move and he even sold 1 million PPV with that garbage fight.

Now the Canelo vs GGG fight is at the perfect time money-wise. It will sell more than it would last year and GGG is a bit older.

Canelo's career has been guided very well.

Very well. He fought and beat the 3 best JrMWs. Lara, Trout, Cotto.

He beat the 2nd biggest name in Mexico.

He's fighting the best MW since Sergio Martinez.

    That's what is all about.

I'm not so sure. Canelo's team calls the shots here. Oscar just goes along. As far as managing his career, his team made a big mistake in fighting Mayweather.

And now, did they intend to get so much negative publicity? And did they really intend to fight GGG, or were they just painted into a corner by the negative publicity?

And when Canelo gets brutalized by GGG, will that be their plan also? I think his people have lost control of the plan here, and now they're heading for a train wreck. Oscar is a nobody, and just along for the ride.

Big mistake fighting Mayweather? The fight broke records and got his name out there to all boxing fans and even more. As for the GGG fight, it had to happen in order for Canelo to not lose his fans and respect ODLH just made sure it happened at the best time .

They made it so he was the laughing stock for whole of boxing in 2016.
Although he made a lot of money, his reputation took a huge hit and will probably hunt him beyond his career. Don't think that's good management for someone that already was a star

1...Canelo did NOT beat Lara or Trout. He got the decisions but didn't win the fights
2... Chavez jr Second best fighter in Mexico ??? You DKSAB do ya
3... And Canelo will get his ass handed to him
Now THAT is what its all about Pumpkin

Floyd clowned him for a humiliating 12 rounds. Canelo looked like Robert Guerrero in there. Would you want that for your fighter? I would not. Canelo would be a bigger star if that fight had not happened.

In your second point you're agreeing with me they were painted into a corner. So okay.

The excuse was already there. Canelo was too young and drained. It was a massive money fight. The only reason why Canelo became popular in the first place is because he briefly touched the Floyd-Pacquiao era, just like Cotto and Marquez became big names because of it. All of those fighters revolved around the sun which was Floyd and Pacquiao.

The reason why GGG never became big was precisely because he had nothing to do with that era and those fighters. Same goes for Ward basically.

When Canelo beats Golovkin, and makes it look easy, you and your Golovkin buddies will be hear with a plethora of excuses. Bank on it.

Wrong. Losses do not define fighters like Canelo. Do you speak Spanish? If you do I highly recommend you watch some of the Canelo interviews regarding the Mayweather fight. He is a true student of the sport and bounced back beautifully from that loss. He is a better fighter today, and he credits losing to Mayweather as a motivating factor, and a life lesson.

The only thing Canelo learned from Floyd was to fight no hopers, drain his opponents, and give then the worst deals possible. That's the business side. On the boxing side Legs of Stone is same exact fighter.

Interesrting, because Trout, Cotto, and Lara are FAR better than anyone Golovkin has fought, butu you have nothing bad to say about Golovkin, because you're not a fan of this sport, you're a groupie.
