Urtain was a hype job. and a draw is not a win. Where is this win at heavyweight that makes Peralta decent?

It is undeniable that Carnera embodies what most people on here think is a good super heavyweight. Mobile, fast, big punch, uses reach to advantage. Clearly moreso than Bowe. I can hardly recall a fight where Bowe solidly used fast footwork and kept his opponent on the outside. Arguably is only great wins were against Holyfield and those fights were fought in close range.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

This seems to be obvious to the impartial viewpoint for anybody who can think for themselves.

No Assessment of what is good about the superheavyweight class is complete without Carnera.

Carnera didn't have a big punch.

I voted that they were equally good all rounders since both Carnera and Bowe embodied what it is to be a successful super heavyweight throughout the ages.

equally good. both had what it takes to win a world title, albeit they didnt have much in the way of longevity at all.

I meant no offence, perhaps That was too harsh, I meant that in light of the success of modern superheavyweights the stature of earlier Super heavyweights need to be rethought. It's difficult to abandon established cliches when reassessment shows there was a lot more about them than the cliches allow folks to think there was.

No, it's quite deniable. And I don't think he was nearly as effective at keeping opponents outside their desired punching range as you guys seem to.

good enough to become world champions should be good enough, it means he was world class at what he did.

I think you need to demonstrate why you think it is deniable.

You deny Primo was world champion? What is there to deny? What exactly do you deny? Primo was too ineffective to be the best in the world when he beat men his own size and beat contenders?

I'm just going off of what fellow posters claim are characteristics of a good super heavyweight. Bowe doesn't fit the bill.

71 wins by knockout out of 89 total wins. He's got something.
