It would certainly put him on his ass or have him on jelly legs. I didn't say it was a goodnight punch.
Yeah that was a fantastic right hand Wlad landed. I don't think Marciano would be able to do anything significant to Joshua until Joshua started to gas. In order to do that he would have to open up on Marciano a couple rds. If Marciano survives that then his chances increase dramatically. However, Marciano wouldn't go out without slugging Joshua with his best shot. There's just no way and it would land too.
Klitschko undoubtedly hits harder than Rocky. Both can KO a man cold, but could Rocky knock down the behemoths we saw Wlad best for a decade? I doubt it. Rocky's only shot at beating any of these guys is if he can weather the early storm and take over down the stretch as every big man gasses and gasses hard. But does anyone really see Rocky surviving the first 5 rounds against Wlad or Lewis?
I used to think he might put Wlad into panic mode ,but the Joshua fight has changed my view ,both beat him up .
The way Wlad stood toe to toe against Joshua has rocketed him in my estimations, so far removed from the Bambi on ice act we saw against Brewster. Rocky's only advantage over these great SHW sized fighters is his conditioning, but I just don't see him being around long enough to capitalise on that.
What worried me most about Joshua was the way he dangerously faded after each of the major attacks he inflicted upon Wlad. McCracken screamed at his handlers to back off from Anthony when he was too tired to celebrate at the end. Joshua hung on the ropes for 90seconds before he could raise his hand and celebrate the win.
Wlad taking ring centre like that takes away from the kudos you give him for standing "toe to toe" with Joshua. By taking ring centre like that he was able to dictate to Joshua. He was not trading. He was controlling the space. It looks the same but it really isn't. Two parts in the fight Josh marched through the line that Wlad was defending so well and "go toe to toe" and both of those two times Wlad was knocked down. The reality was Wlad was forced to go toe to toe just twice in that fight and it was bambi on ice both times.
Marciano hit Walcott with a few huge right hands that didn't budge him. It wasn't until late, when Joe was on tired, old legs and was bouncing off the ropes and caught leaning in with his own punch did he get discombobulated.
You can't see how Rocky did againt class SHWs. But you can see how Rocky did against similar opponents of many SHW greats. And you can make comparisons there.
Rocky sold out more with his punches, swinging for the fences. Wlad was much more cautious. He needed to be as he was mostly fighting monsters the size and quality that Marciano never faced. But Waldo certainly had more power. Don't believe fairy tales.
