You just have to balance it and put it on its proper context.

You also can't trust everything politicians say (because lies and stuff). But we still listen to them, and weigh their words accordingly.

    But you made the claim.

If I said Primo knocked out 10 guys with one uppercut, I would need proof. You said he did it zero times. So how do you know?

Humans are notoriously unreliable observers, as many tests have shown.

If a fight was not filmed (say Sullivan Killrain) then you cross reference multiple ringside reports, and try to weed out the contradictions between them.

If a fight was filmed with very poor camera technology (say Corbett Fitzsimmons) then eyewitness reports might help to clarify what is going on in places.

Once you get to the 1930s the film is basically a perfect representation of what happened.

At this point you don’t even bother with the eyewitness reports, unless the person saw the event from a different angle than the fight was filmed from.

There were at least 3 that were contemporaries of Carnera.Santa ,Campolo, and Impelletiere. Just prior to which there was Potgeiter, and Pettifer.

Care to produce all these negative news reports on Carnera that prove your claims?

If you were going to watch a heavyweight in the 1930's, what are the chances that a SHW will be fighting?

If you are watching a heavyweight fight today, what are the chances that a SHW will be fighting?

There was a solid group of dreadnaughts during the 30's. And they got their exposure. But it absolutely pales in comparison to today.

I agree with the underlined 100%.I've been arguing the very same thing with Reznik for about 12 posts and 4 threads!

Because common boxing dogma has Carnera as a slow, stiff, big, unskilled, bum who wouldn't have been ranked had he not been mob controlled. If we are going by what so called experts say about him then we must also conclude that every shw is a slow, stiff, big, unskilled, bum. But we both know that is pure idiocy.

I definitely don't think Carnera has as good of a jab as Klitschko did/does. The amount of guys who did I can count on one hand. I do however think Carnera is underrated. Anyone who says he was some great jabber on the Klitschko level is, like you said, practicing fraudulent revisionism. I would agree there 100%.

I think he was reasonably quick for his size, and I wouldn't call him stiff. Not a natural fighter, but one who appeared to do everything by numbers . I don't see the logic that because I think Carnera is a moderately skilled underpowered SHvy with a dodgy chin the other Shv's must necessarily be so.

I'm just saying what coming boxing dogma says. It isn't necessarily correct.

No it isn't.I think the whole Carnera was reviled by the press is hugely overstated really,Ive asked Reznik for some of these contemporary news reports disparaging him, but he hasn't replied.

Yes it is. Go back to before Carnera started to get really analyzed on here and he is thought of as nothing but a bumbling oaf.
