Loughran did it with an educated left jab and immaculate defence.

Frazier wasn't totally one handed ,as for example Henry Cooper, but he didn't have anywhere near the pop in his right Rocky had in his left.
You can make as valid a case for Frazier as for Marciano, no doubt about it ,but if you are saying you would feel very relaxed about picking Joe then you're a braver man than me M!

When I make a pick i look for distinct reasons for that pick. What usually happens with top tier fighters when they meet is that there are indistinct reasons to make these picks. Faster plus bigger is very rare in a top drawer HW contest an it usually has a given outcome where the two fighters are of the same fighting class. This isn't the same as being sure i'm right, just meaning that there is very little reason for me to feel torn.

Joe Frazier, up to the first Ali fight, was a tremendous fighter. Truly great and underrated. I could not bet against the form of the best Joe Frazier against many fighters. People just don't understand the ability he originally had to chop guys down at any range. Close the distance, lead with his Sunday punch and double it up like a jab. It was one hand but he used it like two. No other fighter used a bomb as their range finder, lead with it and landed it as regular as a jab. It was a very very short prime, but There is not many champions who stand a chance with that version of Joe Frazier. Ali found that out, and who beats Ali?

10% off that Frazier prime and Marciano takes him just like Perry says. But Joe as his 1971 form is 50-50 with anybody.

Ali and Holmes were faster and bigger than nearly all their opponents, and Louis was in several fights so I don't think its that rare.

    Liston and Tyson ?

    Both 50/50 against Rocky.

Foreman beats him, as does Ali, Lewis, and both Klitschkos. Almost forgot prime Louis, who edges him as well.

    Thread question: Frazier ? 50/50

I wouldn't bet anything on Marciano against Bowe or Golota either.

I have the man at six, all time, but probably not in the top ten head to head.

Dempsey beats him too,imo and I would make Langford 50/50. Holyfield gets the nod from me as well.

I dig that. Newspaper reports definitely support that statement.

    Possible.

But IMO, he demolishes Dempsey, after a less than promising first couple of rounds.

I see him as a clear favourite over Langford (and Johnson, who would probably have ben more of a threat than Sam), and I have him as a favourite over Holy, especially a clean Holy.

No chance Frazier with one punch beats a monster, a two handed one punch ko monster, like Dempsey. Both Dempsey and Marciano ko Frazier. Dempsey brutally and early. Marciano in a bruising battle lands an overhand right as Joe throws his hook for the KO mid fight.

Wrong. Frazier not only never koed anyone with his right hand he never knocked anyone down with it either. Joe lacked coordination between his left and right fists.
