"There had been no indication previously that Sharkey would collapse, because Carnera had not struck a blow as terrific as that right hand uppercut."

"Out of nowhere Carnera pulled his right in an uppercut which curled to Sharkey's chin and dropped him in his tracks...in a jiffy, the title changed hands on Carnera's sweeping uppercut."

    Exactly.

If you talk about revisionism, then this is the starting point that you are revising from!

Well the result tells us what their opinions were worth! And their positive opinions directly contradict the tiny little snippet you managed to scrape up just after glass chinned soft punching 5'10" Maloney had outpointed him.Keep looking! Keep digging! And keep the faith, because 85 of us don't agree with you!

Choklab paraded his anti- Foreman agenda yet again and made a direct comparison between him and Carnera,I merely pointed out that Carnera was in fixed fights and Foreman was not. The truth hurts doesn't it?

#1 rated George Foreman v Terry sorrel
#1 rated George Foreman v joe Murphy Goodwin
#1 rated George Foreman v Clarance Boone

These fights were closer to being as fixed as anything Carnera had whilst he was a top contender.

But going from film his interpretation of the Baer fight is grossly inaccurate. I don't doubt he was a good writer. I doubt more that he understood enough about boxing.

Are you categorically saying they were fixed fights? Did any of them have their purses held up or licences pulled? Because that happened to several of Carnera's opponents!

Here's a suggestion why not make a thread about George Foreman and all his fixed fights and set ups and stop polluting this one with your unproven accusations? I'm glad I made the decision not to make any more threads!

I am categorically saying compared to Carneras time as an elite contender they are much closer to a fixed fight.

Jimmy Braddock had his purse held too and was thrown out of New York.

In fact, a referee was banned for giving a disgraceful decision to Stanly Poreda when Primo clearly won the fight. This was when both were rated contenders.

I think this is a bigger deal than guys selected in "marking time fights" that don't count, that bore no relation to the World title picture having their licences pulled for not putting up satisfying efforts. What was in it for them anyway? Nothing.

What counts is the legitimate fights between contenders. That's where hoaxers and fraudulent prospects get found out. Carnera passed the test in those fights.
