Wow...he's really slimmed down. Must be avoiding the buffet lines at Furrs.

If the WBF had any illusions to ever become a major organization, they would have stopped with these nonsense "world title fights" years ago.

After Toneys great performance last night I don't believe Wilder wants to have anything to do with that man... too much risk, low reward.
So Wilder will keep his big mouth shut and enter the long list of fighters who DUCKED lights out!

I'd advise Toney to finally retire as a fighter and find himself another role in the boxing world, but if he wants to keep on fighting (after all it's his own choice and health), he should go for the winner of Briggs-Oquendo in a WBA unification.

Rumour has it, that team Toney is planning a quick return against Charles Ellis, Toney's last conqueror back in 2015. I don't mind watching Toney carrying on as long as he keeps fighting lower echelon opponents who are in their 40s...

I didn't know about that, but a source close to the Michigan Boxing and MMA commission claimed that Wilders team was indeed looking at the Toney-Shepperd winner as a possible opponent for a voluntary defense at a later stage. That's also the reason why a WBC official was present at the fight.

I still think Toney should just retire, but if he should go after the Briggs-Oquendo winner, or get a shot at Wilder (I'm still sceptical about that), a rematch with Ellis first would be good to stay active... and hopefully lose some weight long the way

And even then, Wilder would probably offer Toney the fight at five weeks' notice. Talk about leaving nothing to chance.

Let's wait and see I would prefer him to stay at a jouneyman level, after all he's close to 49 now...

James Toney vs Shannon Briggs would be an interesting matchup at this stage in both guys' careers. I also read somewhere that Toney called out Roy Jones Jr.
