    Wish people could see past his image!!! He was unbelievably skilled. Possibly the best footwork I've ever seen.

    He was incredibly slick for a bruiser with that incredible head movement and timing wasn't he? That Dempsey rolling head movement befuddled all the big men he faced.

    Fine, if you're including Holmes on there then Calzaghe gets Jones and Hopkins. Bruno = Kessler level, or perhaps slightly less. The others are all fringe world class.

    He wasn't a 'kid out of high school' by the time he won the HW championship. Not that age makes a difference anyway - we can now look over his whole career. If anything he was a much better fighter at 21 than 30.

    I can never give Joe credit for beating Roy, due to 2 reasons:

    1. He wrote in his 2007 autobiography that Roy had been shot since 2004, and fighting him would be pointless.

    2. He would never have fought him when he was anywhere near his best.


    I'll give him credit for his victory over Bernard, but I had the fight as a draw.


    Regarding Larry, he was still a top level fighter when Mike beat him. He fought into 40's, pushing a peak version of Evander hard, and beating Ray Mercer. When Joe fought Roy, Roy was no longer a top level fighter. So the circumstances are different.


    What do you mean that those other guys were all fringe world class?

    Michael Spinks proved that he was a world class HW.

    Tony Tucker was a world class HW.

    Almost all of the guys I mentioned would be top 10 HW's if they were around today.

    What do you class as fringe world class?

    Deontay Wilder is considered a top HW in this era. Yet he isn't as good as Tucker, Spinks or Bruno.

    All of those guys listed were world class HW's.

    Kids in america leave high school at 18/19. Tyson won his first title at 20 years and five months.
