It's been known to happen. "James Belcher, also known as Jem Belcher (15 April 1781 – 30 July 1811) was an English bare-knuckle prize-fighter and Champion of All England 1800-1805. ...In July 1803 Belcher lost an eye owing to an accident when playing at rackets." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Belcher
I'm a boxing and MMA fan. But this f'ing ridiculous. If MMA guys were any good at boxing they would be pro boxers already. At least with boxing you have a lot more control of your career. You're not just UFC property. Only a few fighters in the UFC make any kind of money relative to top boxers. Of course he wants to box AJ. He'd probably take less punishment than an MMA fight but there is no way he beats AJ unless he gets a lucky punch in.
Whenever I watch an mma fight I'm always let down by the quality of the striking. Nobody in the UFC even has domestic level boxing skills, but they'll call out someone who's world class. I don't know why people do that. Everyone wants to go right to the front of the line without waiting their turn and paying their dues. They didn't fight for the mma title their first fight, but they think they can do that in our sport?
Sure, but there are a dozen football players who run the 100 meters in 10 seconds. Jeff Demps a New England Patriot running back ran a 10.01 back in 2008. Jacoby Ford an Oakland Raiders wide receiver ran a 10.01 back in 2009. Teddy Williams cornerback for the Carolina Panthers ran the hundred meters in 10.16 seconds. Brian Witherspoon cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars ran it in 10.22. C.J. Spiller runningback for the Kansas City Chiefs did it in 10.29. Before we get on our high horse, we ought to take a healthy dose of humility and realize that even though our talent pool is better than mma's we still don't have the kind of pull that the big sports do. There are indeed levels to athletics, but we aren't necessarily on the top level.
LOL! Exactly. And check that idiots post history since he wants to bring that up. He only seems to cry "Agenda" towards certain posters while ignoring other ones who CLEARLY have agendas Wonder why that is! Lol! The dumb **** needs to realize there can be MMA fans AND boxing fans on here too. And he's not the forum PC police.
Yeah, I never get over the irony of all these self-righteous health freaks talking about how important it is to lift weights, run, and play sports, then they'll ***** about all the operations they had to go through because doing that ruined their health.
Drachenorden Aka Slavic Fighter: "Because we have MMA morons pointing out" Lol!! Dummy... you've created threads and boasted about dozens of MMA fighters in the lounge within the last month!! STFU! Lol!! Again... you aren't even a good troll.
Such as? I can't think of any. Guys like Robinson, Charles, Duran, Armstrong, Ali, those are world class athletes.
I don't see the problem. AJ could tell Junior, "sure, I'll fight you, provided that you get past Shannon Briggs first." That should help Junior achieve the required level of perspective.
I only praised Yoel Romero (A-level athlete) and maybe a couple of others. I wasn't cheering for the demise of boxers.
sure he would. no one is stopping him from trying to earn his way in boxing. alonzo highsmith, too tall jones, mark gastineau, etc all gave it a shot. the mma clowns are simply looking for a payday, since vince mcmahon doesn't pay them well in mma. oh, i am sorry, i mentioned dana whites boss.
