Sorry but Maravilla's knees we''re gone long before that night. He only took the Cotto fight because of money otherwise he would've retired. I think he had multiple knee surgeries before the Cotto fight. Maravilla showed incredible heart in that fight. 9/10 of ten fighters would've quit after the 1st or 2nd KD considering he basically had no legs and he was facing an elite fighter.
And Martinez being shot to pieces was the only reason Miguel fought him. Not to disrespect Cotto, who is a great fighter, but it is what it is

Please, save all your excuses, I've heard them all. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, people just don't want to believe that a shot damaged goods midget beat their hero Martinez. It's cool, it's perfectly understandable. Martinez was the one who challenged Cotton, not the other way around, not sure where you're getting your facts from.

What we do know is that a left hook to the temple caused an after shock that shattered Martinez knees though, Cotton did the same thing in his fight vs a Rabbi.

I didnt say Cotto called out Martinez. I only said that Martinez took this fight because it was the most money he could make. Maybe his manager or his promoter came with the idea. For the same reason.

Miguel Cotto ? A damaged goods shot midget ? Hahahhah

I think you missed the Canelo fight. If Cotto is a shot midget like you say, then Canelo is in a world of trouble come September.
But Cotto isnt a shot midget, and you're delusional for think that Cotto was all hype, then all of the sudden after the Martinez fight he became elite in your eyes. This was the topic of this thread, and that was your example.
So far away from the truth

Bhop. Carl Froch. Lennox Lewis sadly. I'm American and was biased. Around my teens. I turned around when I saw he was robbed against Holyfield. I was the same about Carl Froch but became a fan when he outboxed AA. He has underrated skills. His heart, grit and work ethic need not be explained.

I wouldn't go necessarily quite as far as this post suggests but I have to say, I underestimated how Lucas Browne would go against Ruslan Chagaev. That would be the most surprised I think I have been in recent years.

Maybe Pacman. I remember he had a bit of hype pre Barrera and Marquez and I never really took any notice of him. There was just no way a little Filipino sporting an undercut with a part down the middle and some flaming red trunks with "no fear" written on them, that look like they came off the shelf of a Manila flea market could become an ATG champion.

RJJ vs Toney Ali vs Liston Leonard vs Duran 1(by surviving and giving a great account of himself)
These happened before my time but they fit the thread

    Fury.
Although he's in a heap of doodoo now, I never expected him to even get a title shot, and certainly not to actually win it.
