I'm sure Earnie Shavers was thinking that very thing, as he went in to round-6 of his bout with Lyle in '75.
Carnera was tougher than Shavers. Carnera got up 11 times against a prime vicious Baer. Shavers wouldn't imo.
We would certainly be justified in making Carnera favourite based on real world results, but Lyle might well have what was needed to beat him. Lyle’s power and countering ability would make him a constant threat.
