I deleted the question because Bowe didnt really beat many good modern size HWs either. Still let me ask you this if you didnt know who it was you were watching but you still had whatever boxing knowledge you have now would you really say Carnera was better than Bowe?

Could you find better moments of agility and mobility form Vitali than you can with Carnera?

No i dont think it would. Because it was never a factor in a fight and he never kept moving in his fights. The point is you can find clips of him looking nimble but it doesnt matter when he couldnt get away from baers right hand. Fighters are almost never exactly the sum of their parts.

But how good Peterson was is relevant to the discussion. Can we really ignore the fact that O.F Snelling watched Joe Bugner, Henry Cooper and Frank Bruno live and he watched Jack Petersen live and he thought Peterson was the best of them!

This means at least one first hand observer puts Neusel above Frank Bruno, Joe Bugner and Henry Cooper. We don't have to agree with him but Can we discount that?

    Can I be honest?

If I did not know what Bowe had gone on to accomplish, I could very easily damn him on the footage!

I might ask how his trainer had ever got him fighting with this style!

You are lucky that I know better.

Why do you think Holyfield spent so much time inside Bowe's wheelhouse?
Imo its because he could out manoeuvre old Foreman and use the stick n move game to win the fight but couldn't use the same strategy to defeat Bowe.
He had to try break him apart or he would have been picked apart from the outside or bullied even more on the inside.

Bowe was slightly better than Foreman II but not by much as that George is severely underrated.
I wouldn't say he fought the same Coetzer though. That was Coetzers 3rd fight in 6 months and he met Foreman after a bad beating from Bowe and an absolute mugging from Bruno.
Those 3 fights ruined him , he never fought again.

Baer is one of the best punchers in the history of the sport.
You're talking about getting caught by him like he's Ross Purrity or Corrie Sanders.
Ali got caught by Frazier, Cooper, and Banks. Being agile didn't matter for him? Of course it did.

    Of what, his agility?
You want me to give you full rounds, or isolated moments that showcase it the best?

He couldn't get away from Gains right hand either, and he was dropped by by both Stribling and Sharkey neither of whom can I ever recall being referred to as two of the best punchers in sport.

There has been many Carnera clips posted in the past two weeks so they're kind of all over the place.

A good clip might be the 90 seconds of the 7th round in the Baer fight.

    Yeah, which is normal.
Sonny Banks and Henry Cooper aren't the two best punchers of the sport either.
    Neither are Purrity and Sanders.
    Or Rahman and McCall.
    Or Schmeling and Braddock.
    Or Walcott and Moore.

Yet, in some posts Carnera is getting flak for being dropped by Baer and Louis?
    Lol.

The key difference is I'm not holding these boxers to ridiculous standards.

No it doesn't at all Snelling confined himself to British fighters in that piece ,which I also have read.

    Here's 6 questions for you.
    Q Bruno v Neusel?
    Q Cooper v Neusel?
    Q Bugner v Neusel?
    Q Bruno vPeterson?
    Q Cooper v Peterson?
    Q Bugner v Peterson?

    Who wins?
