This is a great fight but in terms of career progress I'm not sure it's wise to chuck Josh Taylor into a challenge like this after only 9 fights. Ohara Davies is smaller but he's developing into a class act and he's a heavy puncher too. I appreciate that he's only had 5 more pro fights than Taylor but at this stage of their careers, that's a 3rd more than Taylor.
Floyd set the mentality that your 0 is the only important thing. That transcended into the world of boxing because he was the world of boxing, we're better off without him imo
What your forgetting is Josh has the amateur pedigree Davis very little, josh wins this fight with a good bit in hand
Great fight, delighted Scotland is getting another big night of boxing. Shame Edinburgh does not have and suitable venues to hold this fight, hence why the fight is in Scotland's premier city.
Fair point, I hadn't really considered that. There're plenty of examples of fighters who seemingly bypassed the amateurs and jumped feet first into the pro game and have learnt on the job but obviously with Taylor's amateur record in mind, the 5 extra pro fights that Davies has had won't count for an edge in experience. I am wrong sometimes...or a lot if you ask my missus
Taylor on points in a war both fighters will be down, complete slug fest but the cuter sharper punches come from Taylor and he cruises threw the championship rounds !
What Scottish boxers are you talking about, and he fight is in Scotland so who do think should be on the undercard English boxers.
Perfect fight, always for a couple of young prospects fighting early in their careers. Proper tests. I'm taking Taylor on points.
I think Taylor wins but I do not think it will be an easy night by any stretch of the imagination. I think this will be a close, painful fight for both guys, fancy Taylor on points, winning by 2-4 rounds. Really glad to see its happening
