Which fighter s doing better h2h against any lineal champ from liston onwards? They both come out fairly well in head to head fight s so who iyo comes out beating the majority? Tyson from 88 and Bowe from 92. Simple question. Who defeats the most linear champs?

Short and sweet rez, going to be surprised if that's not the majority vote. Tyson gets a lot of wins in head to head on here.

Guys they both beat: M. and L. Spinks, Frazier, Rahman, McCall, Ruiz

Guys they both lose to: Ali, Foreman, Lewis, Liston,

GUys Bowe beats that TYson doesn't: Vitali(coin flip), Holyfield

Guys Tyson beats that Bowe doesn't: Holmes, WLad, Joshua

I'm sure I'm missing some but in my view Tyson takes it by having that KO power.

Iron Mike. Simply because Bowe cannot last against top competition for very long and look what little wear and tear he actually received in his fights and the degradation factor.

Tyson would blow fighters out that Bowe would get into bloody wars with.

Tyson excelled against big Hw's..Bowe did not.H2H it has to be tyson, even Golota fights show this even though that wasnt 88 Tyson who had Golota running out of the ring. Bowe went 10 with Tubbs UD win...Tubbs went 2 with Tyson in a blow out......

Tyson has more dynamics to his game.

For all his attributes Bowe was not massively far removed from being a face first brawler, just a very big one. His defence was none, he had a poor jab for someone his size and his footwork wasn't the best. What he had was exceptional centre of gravity and the ability to leverage his shots extremely well.

Bowe had the perfect style to walk someone down and pound out a victory, it's just a matter of getting the other guy out of there first.

But at the elite level, have to favour someone to pick holes in his defence and get the W.

When tyson gets lined up against the lineal champ s the ones with poor defence and not the greatest of chins are getting ko d, it's simple as that imo. Those that can take a punch and take you in to the later rounds he probably loses to. Bowe has a better chance against those types. Bowe struggles with movers, those that won't get dragged into a brawl. I see both losing to ali and Holmes. Foreman is a another one that could beat em both. Frazier is a tricky one. Liston I always have beatin tyson but not sure about him against riddick. Wlad could be stopped early by Mike or bowe. Depending on the version of klitschko. Leon spinks is getting hammerd by both fairly quickly. Briggs isn't seeing the fifth with either of em.

I read somewhere the other day that Holyfield credited Bowe with the best jab he ever faced. I suppose you could argue he jabbed well in the Holyfield trilogy but less so in other fights. I do see your point about him underutilizing his jab considering the advantage he could have exploited with it.

I actually have Bowe* as my H2H number 1! GALVATRON (who's opinion I value greatly) thinks that opinion is crazy/dumb because he never convincingly defeated a SHW but I just think his skill set coupled with his size spells trouble for anyone. (plus GALVA is obsessed with power:tongue:and it could be argued Riddick didn't quite punch his weight)

*This view is based on the version who fought Holyfield when he was young, hungry and conditioned.

See I didn't think his jab was that good against Holy.

The problem Holy faced was he had no idea about the gameplan of skillset Bowe possessed.

Holy tries taking the fight on the inside which is exactly were Bowe wanted it and meant Bowe didn't have to hunt Holy down to land his leather.

In the rematch Holy fought better on the back foot and outjabbed Bowe down the stretch, but obvs fan man gave him a chance of a much needed rest after a horrid round.

I have to admit I don't think of any of the Bowe/Holyfield fights were jab-fests by HW standards, I was just theorising why Evander may have formed his opinion.
I do think Bowe had a hard, accurate and rapier fast jab when he did make use of it, although his jab wasn't as straight or long as say Lewis or Wlads and he used it more for set ups rather than as a single shot or for maintaining distance. I will have to disagree that he didn't have a great jab although I will say he could have made use of it more rather than exclusively for offence, I believe Bowe had the ability to fight at range using his jab but for whatever reasons was happy to abandon defensive responsibility and go toe to toe. (makes for great, exciting fights):ggg
