Let us not descend into childishness.

I do not dispute that Lewis was a formidable heavyweight and rightly up there with the greats. In fact I believe had he been American born, he'd be rated as the best of all time.

However we cannot ignore that there is always someone out there bigger, stronger and purer out there and that man was no other than Vitali Klitschko who was out boxing Lewis, matched him for strength and power and stood up to everything Lewis could throw.

Like I have previously stressed you are entitled to believe Lewis was superior, having said that it is folly to suggest that Lewis would have been confident going into the rematch. His argument has been that he had nothing left to prove when in fact he had everything to prove.

Floyd Mayweather rematched Maidana after fans from all around the world, felt he gave him hell. And to Floyd's credit he silenced the doubters for his bravery and his legacy was made better for it. He could have easily pretended he had nothing left to prove and retired as a wealthy man. However floyd wouldn't let the sit and the true warrior within made sure that he made right of the situation. It's why he was sickened by Andre Ward's initial desire to retire instead of rematching Kovalev. Ward finally came to his senses and realised that you can't run off and retire when you have unfinished business inside that squared circle.

A realisation that flew past Lewis sadly and I have no doubt that it will forever eat away at his conscience for the rest of his days on this earth.

    WRONG.

Lewis was inactive and it was Lewis who took on Vitali with only two weeks preparation.
Vitali had his sights on Lewis long before they fought and that interview proves he was training preparing for Lewis SIX MONTHS before they fought.

Dope , your lies have been exposed again.

I destroyed most of you and your friends, emotional based arguments.

My thoughts are with those who lost their lives to muslim barbarians.

Everyone should be discussing how to rid the world of these cowards, not whether Lewis had any chance to beat Vitali in a rematch.

This is probably the most reasonable you have ever written here but that doesn't make it true. Vitali did not outbox Lewis or took everything Lewis threw at him, if he did, Vitali wouldn't have been stopped in round 6.

That is Vitali's claim to fame and the only thing that actually stands out in his whole career.

tko6 is Lewis's claim to fame you mean. It's the only fight of his talked about here with any regularity.

This. I really like Vitali, but the OP is nonsense, just trolling / looking for an argument.

His era was one the weakest divisions of all time and he still only beat about 15% of the top guys in it.

    Valeuv
    Povetkin
    Chageav
    Haye
    Chambers
    Helenius
    Ibragomov
    Stiverne

    Lewis
    Byrd
    Holyfield
    Ruiz
    Tua
    Rahman

    Never beat any of them.

He was then what Deontay Wilder is now.

Heavyweight Adam Machaj would agree with your comments on Vitaly, but not as far as Tyson Fury goes. He states that Fury is the most powerful and unprodictable fighter he has ever fought, but never put down, and that it is impossible to train for an opponent like him, due to even Fury not knowing what he will do when fighting.

Someone help this guy with math and get him glasses!

Lennox was 37. Briggs was 38, but did you know Vitali was a year old when they fought?

Chisora won three rounds and best and Vitali fought with an injured shoulder.

Dino is badly mistaken as usual

    Vitali beat several #1-3 contenders.

Since when is Helenius or Stiverne a top guy in the division. You left out Peter, Sanders, and Adamek, all of who were #1-#3 top ranked guys.

Valuev and Haye backed out of fights with Vitali. Fact.

Holyfield was way too old for that type of beating.

    Ibrgaimov retired early.

Lennox was 3 months away from being 38 years old and the OP said Vitali fought prime Briggs, therefore
i made it clear that he was not in his prime, neither was Lennox Lewis or Corrie Sanders.

He is no doubt unpredictable but Vitali style was equally awkward and had reflexes as quick as feline.

Difference is the punch out and power, which fury doesn't have in equal measure. He would not be able to stand up to a guy that throws over 500 punches per round over a 12 round fight. His chin simply wouldn't allow it.

What #1 rated contender did he ever beat?

The only #2 rated HW he beat was Peter and he was worse than Bermane Stiverne who was also rated at #2 when Wilder fought him.
