No, I think Spence will try as hard as he can to get to Brook, but doesn't have the chin or grit of a guy like Porter to do it so irresponsibly and he'll be forced into a boxing match and be tagged all night with counters as he sheepishly tries to get on the inside. Come on man, I thought you were a sweet science guy, you should know how this works, Spence is Pac, Brook is Money May, Spence is Gamboa, Brook is Bud, Spence is Kessler, Brook is Ward.
Just remind me who Spence has beaten? Brook doesn't need one punch KO power. His accurate and hits hard enough to make an opponent think twice about coming in. As long as you keep an opponent honest that's what matters.
Watch more of him and without any bias, and you'll see why this post is an insanely inaccurate assessment. I'm not a fan of watching Crawford, Mayweather, Rigondeaux or Ward, (I'm a closet Hopkins and Lara fan), but I see how gifted they truly are, so even thought their styles are anathema to everything I love about this sport, and I troll a lot posters who like that style, and pick against them because I want them to get KTFO, I usually am fully aware there is little possibility of that actually happening. Basically what I'm saying is, I don't let my dislike of fighters and their styles blind me to their skill level, whereas I think that's what you're doing with Special K.
Lost to Porter? Then why did Porter claim it was convincing and Thurman claim it was better than his own performance? Kell had GGG throwing bombs at him, he isnt gonna be worried about any welterweight
oooooh weeeeee! I cant wait for this fight! This fight has a lot of implications for the future of the division. If Brook wins impressively he is going to be seen by many as "the man" in this class. If Spence wins impressively the star begins to ascend and burn brighter setting him up as the air apparent to FlIVd.
Wow! Im surprised seeing as you seem to be one of the more knowledgeable posters on here i figured youd really enjoy those guys. While i dont blame you for not being a fan of Rigo who is boring asf! and so is floyd but for different reasons. I can see not liking ward but crawford is fun as hell to watch. He can punch and is a terrific technician in the ring. Crawford the more and more i watch him reminds me of the old school guys. I think hes the Rodney Dangerfield of the sport. I cant wait for him to go to WW to fight the big fights. I think hes going to win a lot of people over. It took me awhile to come around on him but im sold on crawford.
Spence is nothing like Porter. He can reach Brook as he has a two inch advantage in that. He don't have to be forced into a boxing match because that's what he does, box. Being tagged and countered is a two way street and when you add that wicked body assault from Spence then you might bear witness to the destruction of Brook. Spence is Spence and Brook is Brook and let the chips fall were they may. My money is on Spence.
Well if it makes you feel any better, I'm almost to the level of being a closet Crawford fan, but some of his performances, especially against Postol and Klimov are borderline Rigo-like in how unwatchable they are. I'm hot and cold with him, depending on the opponent.
CST said Brook was a puncher. I am saying he has no power to bother an elite fighter. No doubt they feel his punches. But they aren't enough to keep a decent fighter off of him. Just look at Porter. Porter was on him all night. And Brook's not that accurate. In fact his jab is kind of poor.
I never said Spence fought like Porter, and you have to eat a few counters and get close to Brook to do that body work, and due to Brook's sharp counters and footwork along with his exemplary Ward like clinching skills, I don't see that happening, at all. As far as a boxing match goes, Brook is a hell of a lot harder to hit clean than Spence is.
My assessment is unbiased and pinpoint accurate. I've watched his fights. I have nothing against Brook. Ask me any fighter's strengths and weaknesses and I will tell you.
As skilled as Spence is, his chin is still a question mark, you can be as elite as elite gets, like Khan, but if can't take a punch, then all that may ultimately not matter. And if I were you, I wouldn't be basing my assessment of Brook's power on Porter standing up to Brook's shots, its pretty obvious at this point Porter has one of the best chins in the sport, and he was even gunshy, and I highly doubt Spence at least from what I've seen has anything close to Porter's chin.
You saying he's just not that good, kind of proves you do have something against Brook. Even I'm not saying Spence isn't good, he clearly is, I just think he's not as good or proven, or has as good a chin or as much power as Brook.
