Who wins? Joe Calzaghe vs Andre Ward

u are never going to see joe against a really decent fighter unless they are 40something past it or injured.

got to be ward be decision in cardiff, possibly stoppage otherwise. there is a chance that in cardiff joes ref awards joe the fight by ko whilst joe is getting pummelled, if ward accidentally slips.

joes only advantage is stamina, and of course the extrinsics such as man management and protective cheating ref, lagging in every other department.

 

Wards quality will never be fully appreciated and that's probably his own fault. But yh Ward UDs calzaghe

 

I would be entirely confident that calz could have a 6 month camp right now, come back and totally wrap ward in rope by UD or even stoppage.

during calz fighting days that turns out to be a total mismatch..

Intensely dislike both but would bet Ward to find a way, legal or otherwise to decision Calzaghe.

I can tell you don't reside in the UK. Everybody over here (Joe especially) thinks he is a god.

 

I go with Calzaghe on points but in a really close fight. Calzaghe pushing the pace and going into the exchanges and Ward using his boxing to counter in the exchanges.

Calzaghe has to be one of the most overrated boxers on this forum by far.

I have been a fan of calzaghe since the Eubank fight where none of the American has probably heard of him.
I respect Ward eventhough I think he lost the Kov fight. Top 3 p4p still.

 

Also we're talking about 168 Ward. Ward pre-Rodriguez was a different fighter imo. I think Kovalev would have knocked Joe the **** out too though they were in different weight classes.

Kovalev is a great puncher, so the chance is there but I think Joe is the more cerebral fighter.

Calzaghe won a controversial decision against a 44 year old Hopkins who had similar style to Ward. If calzaghe couldnt clearly deal with that version of Hopkins, his chances against Ward is very unlikely.

Ward by unanimouse decision!
