If Cotto clearly beats Kamegai, it will be his 2nd best win since 2009.

I believe Miguel Cotto is THE most overrated boxer currently still boxing. The guy has done NOTHING to deserve the status he still has in boxing. What has Cotto accomplished since 2009? Let's take a look!

June 2009 - Split decision win over Clottey. Clottey was hurt during the fight with an ankle injury, Cotto still barely manages to win.

November 2009 - Cotto gets TKO'd by Pac

June 2010 - TKO's Yuri Foreman... A solid opponent, but once again the guy had a knee brace on, it was very clear he was not at his best and was injured.

March 2011 - TKO's Ricardo Mayorga, a fighter who was far beyond shot.

December 2011 - Beats a one eyed, shot to ****, lost all his passion for boxing Antonio Margarito

May 2012 - Loses a decision to Mayweather. This may be his greatest accomplishment in years.

December 2012 - Loses to a guy he hand picked in a comeback fight, named Austin Trout.

October 2013 - Finally he decides to stoop even lower with hand picked opponents. He chooses Delvin Rodriguez, who probably wasn't even ranked anywhere.

June 2014 - Sergio Martinez, realizing he has 0 fight left in him, cashes out against Cotto. It is apparent that he himself was conscious about the state of his knees. He probably was scared that fans would realize what happened so he tried to wear super long trunks to cover up the knee braces. The guy wasn't going down because of head trauma, he couldn't bend his knees to balance himself correctly. Cotto gains the MW title against an opponent that any top 100 middleweight could have beaten that night.

June 2015 - Cotto beats Daniel Geale. This is actually a decent win. Geale was a former title holder and was in his natural weight class. I think this is the only actual accomplishment Cotto has had since not getting shut out by Mayweather.

November 2015 - Loses to Alvarez. No shame there, but still illustrates that he has not accomplished anything of note since 2009.

The point here is, this guy is the most overhyped guy in boxing right now. Yoshiiro Kamegai will probably be his best win since Geale, and if you want to look before that, you have to look beyond 2009.

I have a challenge, try to name a single fighter who has gotten big fights and been this over hyped despite not doing much of anything. I personally can't think of any, but would be interested to find any.

I don't get the bashing of Cotto. Sure there is some truth in what you said here, but no one cares about Cotto. If people were still acting like he's hot **** in 2017 I'd get you, but no one talks about him, hypes him up, etc.

Also one eyed Marg > Kamegai
Kamegai and Rodriguez aren't far off, hard to say who's better
    Geale > Kamegai

Cotto's popularity was always largely due to him being from Puerto Rico so in this way he was indeed overhyped, but then again the same could be said about other fighters who had their big boxing nation behind them from the start like Canelo and Joshua. A fighter can be decent but still be "overhyped".

I think Cotto's style of boxing is really intelligent and sound and passes the eye test. He also deserves credit for longevity. He bounced back after the devastating defeat against Margarito. At 35 he was very competitive with "prime" Canelo in a fight some people even think he won.

People obviously still care about him if he was landing fights against the likes of Martinez and Alvarez. Maybe not now, but what other fighter did nothing to prove they were relevant for that long and still got that many good big money fights?

People that aren't on this forum. Also Cotto had a couple solid wins here and there between that time. Whether you believe Martinez was completely shot or not, Martinez was the favorite. He destroyed Geale too.

MargoCHEATO didnt have his plaster-o-paris wraps, and without them, Cotto busted him up, inside and out and almost permantently blinded him.

Don't forget that Danny Geale was drained down to 157

Why hate on Cotto? He is a HOFer. I don't think anybody annoying him ad an all time great level fighter.
You can't deny he is still a 4 divisions champion. And since 2010 was competing at his 3rd and 4th weight class.

Cotto has never been in a bad fight. That guy is pure bang for your buck. Always entertains and consistently fights against the highest level opposition in the sport.

Rodriguez, back in 2013, was clearly a step above Kamegai.
And Margarito was still a beast. Cotto threw everything at him, yet Margo was only hurt a few times. Not that the Mexican was bothered by it at all. Ffs, Cotto landed harder and cleaner than he did in the first time, and Margo just laughed at him. That mans will was insane and his chin unquestionable.

Beat Dawson, Sturm, Adama, Sylvester, Karmazin, Mudine and a few others. He was a solid top 10 contender.

I gave him credit for beating Geale, but now I'm not sure as he was drained to 157. That's not really a good win. Martinez was completely shot, where were those solid wins you speak of?

Kinda funny when some laugh that Cotto lost to Trout. "He handpicked him". Well clearly he handpicked a good opponent. (not that it's always the case when it comes to cherries)

Cotto beat the odds. Quite many picked Geale over Cotto and many more when it came to Martinez.
No matter what, no one expected Cotto to annihilate those two the way he did.
Cotto stopped Geale in 4, that was his fastest stoppage since 2004.
Heck, Cotto did Rodriguez in 3, his fastest win since 2002.
