True. Douglas was undoubtedly winning the fight even though the judges inexplicably had the scores even at the time of the stoppage but with the controversy of the long count at the end of the eighth round where Douglas was down for about 14 second because of a slow count by the ref, a rematch seemed inevitable but Don King went about it the wrong way which in the end allowed Buster to first take a fight against Evander Holyfield before any rematch against Tyson.

I will never understand how the heck the judges had those scores in that fight ken. Douglas, round 8 apart was beating the daylight s out of tyson. And yes, it would have made more sense for a tyson Douglas rematch with the winner facing holyfield.

That was Don King's fault. He just went about it the wrong way by trying to overturn the result of the fight into a eighth round KO for Tyson. He was supposed to be the promoter for both fighters but by pushing so hard for the result to be overturned in Tyson's favour, Buster successfully argued in court that King wasn't acting in his best interests as his own promoter should be and so was able to break free from King's control and make his own deal for his next fight.

Most people had a feeling that he would never be as motivated against Holyfield as he was against Tyson though and thought he might lose and so it proved.

Without the cuts imo, Lewis would have lost. Yes he may have caught vitali and hurt him but klitschko would have held on, got through it. He wanted that win desperately. If klitschko had still been there by the tenth Lewis would have been finished. But credit to Lewis, he did what he had to do.

Douglas would never have gotten that motivated for holyfield as he did tyson. He went in against the most feared heavy weight since foreman and given literally no chance. But he trained for him, prepared well and went in with a attitude of nothing to lose. Against holyfield he wouldn't have had that fear to ignite him. Plus he was the champion now and the pressure was on him to pull off another great win. I'm not saying Douglas threw the fight, but when he went down he didn't look for the reserves of strength to pull him self up. Like you say Ken, good old don king cocking things up as usual.

Yeah, credit to Lewis, can't put it any other way. I mean, getting a cut like that was lucky as hell ... but Lennox MADE his luck by electing to throw all his chips on the table and to slug it out with Vits. Vitali was beating him like a drum up till then. Most other fighters would have stunk out the joint by grabbing and holding for the rest of the night. But, as you said, Lewis did what he had to do.

Felix Trinidad vs Oscar De La Hoya.
The decision was very controversial . FT moved up to 154 lbs after
fight . It was the last superfight of the 20th century and at the time it
set the ppv record for a non hw fight. This rematch would have being
    box office gold.

That's a mystery jup why they didn't meet again. Oscar had the loss to sugar but still rematchd. And it would have been a sell out imo.
