Foreman's defense being incredibly undersold here. Foreman was actually known as a good defensive fighter as he was coming up under Saddler. Foreman was excellent at catching and parrying, and slipping. He didn't just blow out Norton and Frazier with offense, they couldn't land a glove on him. Too many too young to really remember how devastating prime Foreman actually was. The Foreman that rolled over Frazier and Norton was as much a killer in the ring as any other past great. A human force of nature. A huge quick starter and very few could survive that quick start. He lost to Ali because he was facing the greatest of all hwts. A lesser fighter would not have gotten past round two. Lyle went life and death with Foreman but George had not fought for 15 months and Lyle was a dangerous puncher to fight after so long out of the ring. Young was as tricky as they come. There is no shame to losing to Jimmy especially a puncher like Foreman. Jimmys style was made to thwart fighters like Foreman.
A patient Foreman forcing a good counter puncher in Kirkman to lead, and evading him with foot work and parries. I don't believe Foreman was nearly knocked out in Round 1 by Lyle. But at any rate, 91 Foreman takes a worse beating from Lyle than he did from Stewart and the judges get it right. And 75 Foreman probably stops Stewart in 2 rounds. Foreman actually deflected most of those. And if he let 75 Foreman tee off on him, he's getting stopped. Just no. More relaxed and far less active. He would have been out pointed trying to chase him. I find Lyle and Ali to be just as technical and certainly bigger than Holyfield, Morrison, and Moorer. Not true.
To be honest, I'm seeing a lot more to Foreman's game now. He's quite underrated it seems for defence.
I did a similar thread a few months back. Think it was my first thread on here. my view was old man George would know what was coming therefor he'd have won. As he experienced what the Young George has yet to.
' "When I was a younger heavyweight champ, I would run maybe three miles a day. Now I set my runs traveling 10 miles and beyond. Every day, getting up early in the morning before much traffic, my wife takes me 10 miles from home, drops me off and I have to get back. As you know, nutrition passed me up. Now I try to go low on fat. You don't want to have things in your stomach that are just extra weight. You want fuel. We'd always said boxers shouldn't lift weights. Now I realize some champion boxer started that rumor. I noticed if I did weights a couple of times a week, I would be able to hit that jab a lot longer. After sparring, everybody's gone and I sneak into the weight room. Spend 40 minutes in there lifting weights." G. Foreman "I was a one trick pony in my youth ,in my comeback i paced myself and was bigger and stronger " G.Foreman "Actually, the old George Foreman would’ve given Ali a tougher fight. But the young George, with his wild swings, my guy would’ve beaten him all night. George, as an old guy, he was relaxed, steady and he would grind you down – A,Dundee Not to mention Foreman HIMSELF told me he was improved in the 90's,which i ALREADY mentioned ..you DOPE!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ NONSENSE...Read the above posts i posted and learn what is what! SMH Ron Lyle was as stiff punching/ NO head movement /No ring IQ and had slow feet unless he weighed 215 as you will see these days at HW ( though ALL top Heavies average 230 plus NOW )..Better than Holyfield and Co.???..oh JEEZZZZZ....lmao Foreman blocked most Holyfields shots???So was that a Poltergeist in the ring wobbling him around or jerking his head back and forth???
No thank you I prefer to actually watch the footage. Lyle was a crisp counter puncher who could throw solid combinations for a big man, he could be stiff at times but was often pretty relaxed. He in fact moved his head very well and had an above average ring IQ as we seen him employ sound strategies against a wide variety of top tier opposition, establishing himself as a lead contender and impact player in his own time. Yeah, he at 6'3" 220 he wasn't fast. So what, we are contrasting him to Alex Stewart here. Stewart in contrast, a fringe contender of his era, fed to the stars with no victories of note. He was pretty timid and stiff, what some described as "fighting scared or sparring partner mentality." He was very rigid and upright, and prone to freeze ups. In contrast to Lyle, painfully slow and not very mobile. He was blown out by Tyson in 1, nearly blown out by Moorer in 1, you are telling me the man that blew out Norton, Frazier, and Kirkman couldn't handle this guy? Get real. It was considered an embarrassment that Foreman got the snot beat out of him by this guy at 41 years of age, that's how little is thought of Stewart, and that's how vulnerable old Foreman could be. You must not know me very well. I do NOT play this game. This was my quote: "I find Lyle and Ali to be just as technical and certainly bigger than Holyfield, Morrison, and Moorer." Your inability to respond to my actual words and mock an invention of your own imagination tells me that you hit a brick wall and rather than give ground you took a punk way out. Yeah...Foreman eating a 15 punch combination and growling "Hulk MAD" is a cool story and it was an exciting moment. But this is the digital age. We have the footage. The actual sequence in slow motion. It was an 8 punch combination. One uppercut landed to the cheek, one hook hit chest/collar bone, and one good body punch. The rest were clearly deflected and it's not even debatable. https://gifs.com/gif/evander-holyfield-vs-george-foreman-match-round-7-3lNNLn
Just keep ignoring all the facts here i post along with legit points...you live in a truly fantasy world ( also making up B.S even though everthing IS on footage) ,no need to go further here..those who read my posts will know who knows what! you even STOPPED the gif you posted when the punch count didnt suit what you said AGAIN...what a fool you are..lol
The gif is of the FULL slow motion replay from the Showtime broadcast. Showtime cut it off because that was all there was of note. Here is the top secret footage that Showtime clipped from the slow motion replay: Foreman turning and Holyfield missing two more additional punches..wow. That's it. https://gifs.com/gif/evander-holyfield-vs-george-foreman-match-round-7-2RM09K So are you going to man up, act like an adult, and admit your claim that Holyfield rocking Foreman's head with a 15 punch combination was a mistake? I assure you, your sex organs will not rot and fall off if you admit to being wrong. Yes, Foreman actually getting hurt by ONE landed punch to the cheek and a shot to the body kills your image of him being an invincible monster but that is what actually happened.
Who the **** is this Galvatron character? He doesn't know anything, talks trash for no reason, and is full of absolute horse ****.
Galv again proves his ignorance. Quoting Foreman does not make statements true. You can find George making every excuse under the sun why he lost to Ali and you can find these quotes the past 40 years. At the same time you will find quotes from George giving his just due credit and terming his excuses as just that. Bottom line it's complete ignorance to believe anything Foreman says.
